I suppose that's better than accidentally shooting someone else in the hand.
You recon. that's better than accidentally shooting oneself in the head? [:(]
Course the probability of ever shooting oneself or others would then be diminished considerably! [:0]
But did he make the sale??
I don't see why not, he demonstrated the product works!!! [:D]

...and the fella did say he was in the market for a hand gun.
That could be a real bad injury. Lots of little bones, and tendons in the hand.
That guy could get quite a few surgeries out of this deal, depending on where the bullet hit, and he could still wind up crippled.
That was nearly 40 years ago.
I met up with him again about two years ago. He still has his left hand, wrist, and elbow, and they all work. It's all scarred up, but the left arm/hand assembly works as well as the right. He was lucky.

Happened just after I left.
When I was in the hospital for my knee surgery the guy in the bed next to me had been on a big riding mower and had reached down to pull something away from the underside of the mower. He got his right hand caught up in the blade, and of course he'd disabled the deadman switch on the bottom of the seat so his hand really got chopped up good.
I remember lying there, a sheet hanging between us, and listening to him talk to the surgeon who'd tried to put it all back together. The surgeon said he'd done his best, but that the man would have very limited use of his hand, even with further surgeries. The man said he had no insurance and worked a variety of odd jobs, none of which he could do with a mangled hand. "What am I going to do?" he asked the doctor, and the doctor said, "I don't know." The poor guy started crying. Probably the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life.
Always check that firearm, never disable safety switches on tools and machines, and for God's sake slow down and do things carefully and safely.
