I suppose that's better than accidentally shooting someone else in the hand.

Dang a 45 ACP round. His hand is really screwed for the rest of his life.

You recon. that's better than accidentally shooting oneself in the head? [:(]

Course the probability of ever shooting oneself or others would then be diminished considerably! [:0]

happened at a small gun show in the area years ago...dufus brought a small auto in loaded and dealer apparently yanked it before checking and a slug bounced off the floor and nicked a visitor in the leg...vendor packed and left and i never saw him again...he was a nice older guy and an expert on lugers but one short moment of stupid ruined it...

Had a vendor at a local show shoot himself in the hand a few months back here in NC. He, his wife, and his merchandise were quickly escorted from the premises.

He should get a discount since it's now a used gun. [;)]

A .45 acp in the hand.

That could be a real bad injury. Lots of little bones, and tendons in the hand.
That guy could get quite a few surgeries out of this deal, depending on where the bullet hit, and he could still wind up crippled.

All else aside, he'll never be allowed in another gun show anywhere.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

An acquaintance of mine, when he was a much younger man, accidentally shot himself through the heel of his left hand with a .45 ACP. The bullet traveled through the hand and wrist, all the way down the forearm, and exited through the elbow. He had lots of pins, screws, and plates added to his arm, wrist, and hand, and had a major cast from shoulder to fingertips, for a a LONG time.

That was nearly 40 years ago.

I met up with him again about two years ago. He still has his left hand, wrist, and elbow, and they all work. It's all scarred up, but the left arm/hand assembly works as well as the right. He was lucky.

    Happened just after I left.

When I was in the hospital for my knee surgery the guy in the bed next to me had been on a big riding mower and had reached down to pull something away from the underside of the mower. He got his right hand caught up in the blade, and of course he'd disabled the deadman switch on the bottom of the seat so his hand really got chopped up good.

I remember lying there, a sheet hanging between us, and listening to him talk to the surgeon who'd tried to put it all back together. The surgeon said he'd done his best, but that the man would have very limited use of his hand, even with further surgeries. The man said he had no insurance and worked a variety of odd jobs, none of which he could do with a mangled hand. "What am I going to do?" he asked the doctor, and the doctor said, "I don't know." The poor guy started crying. Probably the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life.

Always check that firearm, never disable safety switches on tools and machines, and for God's sake slow down and do things carefully and safely.

I was at that show when it happened. Things got real quiet fast. Not really the best part of town for a gun show anyways. The place was packed and its kinda of a small venue. There is talk about some kind of prosecution for the actions of the dealer from the RK people. After it happened police were going around checking firearms for second time. On top of that, there was a 7 year old who shot him self and died the other day.[:(] People should be way more careful about firearms than they are.
