"He could have used a warning..."
From WTTC News in Dallas, we get this heartwarming tale of a long-time criminal, named Deyfon Pipkins, who tried to climb in a window of a home.
The elderly owner inside saw him and fired one shot, ending Deyfon's criminal career.
As the police do, they came by, gathered the corpse, then went to notify Deyfon's family of his timely demise. It seems that the family was upset though, because they showed up at the scene.
"He could have used a warning," Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins' sister-in-law, said. "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense."
SIDENOTE: "That's certainly true, Lakesha. He could also have invited him in and given him a beer, then helped him cart the TV out to the curb.
Unfortunately for Deyfon, Texas is a Castle Doctrine state, and the homeowner chose to shoot Deyfon, as it is right and proper to do.
For that matter, Lakesha, you could have warned Deyfon "Deyfon, you need to quit breakin' into those peoples houses and stealin' they sh... Someone is goin' to pop a cap in yo' ...!"

quote:From Staff Writer Sarah Mervosh: Police responded to a call in East Oak Cliff on Monday to find a deceased man hanging out a window.
The man was still hanging from the window on the side of a worn-looking, pink paneled home in the 2200 block of Morrell Avenue late Monday afternoon. His feet and lower body were out of the window, but his upper body was still inside the home.
A white police truck and officers partially blocked him from view.
Cathryn Pipkins said that police told her that her son, Deyfon Pipkins, 33, was shot breaking into the home. She said she has not seen the body.
Authorities had not confirmed the man's identity. Police have provided no details.
Cathryn Pipkins ran past police cars and through the crime scene Monday and shouted, "Where's my baby at?"
After speaking with police, she stood outside the home, behind the yellow crime tape and flashing police cars that surrounded it, and cried.
"If they let me see him, I can tell them," she said. "I'm strong enough for it. I told him if something like this happened, I would be strong."
Police have not given a statement yet.

An elderly east Oak Cliff homeowner fatally shot an intruder who was climbing through his window Monday afternoon, police said.
After officers were called to the 2200 block of Morrell Avenue about 4:15 p.m., they found the body of Deyfon Pipkins, 33, dangling from the first-floor window.
Pipkins' frantic mother burst into the crime scene, ignoring the police cars and tape that blocked the area near Cedar Crest Boulevard.
She ran toward a group of police officers, wailing: "Where's my baby at? Where's my baby at?"
While her son's body was draped over the window's ledge, his torso inside the house and his feet dangling inches from the ground, Cathryn Pipkins pleaded to see him.
"I'm strong enough," she said. "I told him if something like this happened, I would be strong."
Deyfon Pipkins, who lived in the neighborhood, was unemployed and had a 13-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter, his relatives said. He had four felony theft convictions in Dallas County.
Police Sgt. Calvin Johnson said that the case will be referred to a grand jury but that the homeowner probably will be protected under the state's "castle doctrine" law, which protects homeowners who defend their property against intruders.
"If the evidence supports what his story is, we always give the homeowner the benefit of the doubt," Johnson said.
That is true, but he didn't, and for that we thank him.[^][}:)]
Will Deyfon's funeral be open casket?
So all B&E crooks who happens to be black are expected to be treated better because of Travon?
Will Deyfon's funeral be open casket?
Only when breaking into a White's house.
Deyfon, Lakesha, Trayvon; where the hell do they come up with these names; Scrabble game fell on the floor and that's what was showing!
Oh, yeah, rhetorical question!
A grade school teacher was chastized by a young girl's mother fo embarrassing her dotta' by not being able to pronounce her written name, La-ha! In the principle's office the irrate mother exclaimed, "Is you fools all stupid? It's plain to see, the DASH is NOT silent! It's pronounced Ladasha!"[:0]

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Don't think 'A' window is the prerequisite...
But, I might be wrong.
He had TWO warnings. The first was the grass warning him that he was no longer on the public sidewalk. The second was the window warning him that he was now entering a home that was not his own.
I'm with you on this one.

Mom was wondering about a name, and she heard somebody yell out, "Damn it, would somebody answer Deyfon?!? It's been ringing for hours!"
Then again, back in the late 80s, one of our officers shot a miscreant (active shooter in a restaurant) graveyard dead. His relatives said, "He was crazy and needed killing."

That would be mine. I have signatures turned off so I don't see it but it is there.
Isn't "he needed killing" a legal defense in Texas?[;)]
