Toyota Pickup Question?!?

Remember those Toyota pickups of 30 years ago?? You know, the ones you roll over 5 times, push it back over on its tires, start it up and drive on home. The ones you see in Iraq that haven't had any maintenance in 5 years rolling down the road with 15 Taliban and their AKs hanging out the truck bed.
What is the last year they made those impossible to destroy Toyota's??
My son will soon be 16 and he likes trucks. Because he is a normal teenager he is thinking he should have a 2 or 3 year old F-150 to drive. (15 minute pause while I regain control from all my laughing!!) I'm thinking a 15 or 20 year old Toyota![:D][}:)][:D]
Thoughts and opinions welcome. Thanks guys!

Last 2 Government Motors/UAW products became money pits and left me on the side of the road. Toyotas and Hondas are a far superior products.
Around 1988 until around 1997 VW built the Volkswagen Taro trucks using Toyota's design.
One is an 87 Xtra cab with the 22RE engine. The other is an 88 standard cab with the 3.0 six cylinder.
The 22RE gets better mileage than the truck with the 3.0. Both are great running trucks, with about 500,000 miles between the two of them.
The 22RE has much more room in the engine compartment and is easier to work on. The six is a little cramped in there.
As they get older, parts are getting a little more difficult to find, and consequently, a little more expensive..
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Like this old.[8D]

W[^]W! She's a beauty.
My uncle has a 1990 s-10 with a manual trans he bought new. THe only options he got were AC (not really an option in south arkansas) and bumper. That thing has been stolen and burned twice, rolled once, in a ditch s few times and still going strong. He did rebuild the engine at 301k miles because it started using a little oil.
But back on the subject anything that has the 22re engine will be indestructable as far as the engine goes. THey'll even run without oil for several weeks and still keep going, a neighbor's friend proved that.
