My son has been looking for a 1911 in nickel finish and this came up on the search. Nickel? And if you are a gun shop, why don't you know the difference?

Did you not read the box. It says nickel right on it. 'S' for nickel.

That one is satin nickle, that's what the S on the label means. Someone put the blue parts on it though.
The '70 series could be had blue, satin or bright nickle.

Interesting, the box says stainless and the gun shop thinks it's nickel.
at first i thought "coltguard" which was their E-nickel finish, but now i think it's stainless that was glass bead blasted.......
can't explain the blued parts.[B)]

Actually, it is Satin Nickel and a limited edition which was made between 1979 and 81 or 82. The blued parts were how they left the factory.

I have one just like it.....

SERIAL number with B70 as part of it is Blued series originally only way to verify is factory letter if anything else. Colt did some weird things but I think box label has been modified. [V][V]

I thought satin nickel labels were marked "SATIN":



I bought this gun new from the distributor, so I know that everything is right.

...All Satin Nickel I have & Ive seen, have "SC" as the prefix of the serial. If its a Custom Shop special run, maybe they left off the "SC"?

Im thinking its poor quality pics and its an E Nickel finsh...but Im not sure what years the E Nick finish was available.

I think" Ive seen that same gun listed and sold on GB 2-3 times in the last 2-3 years...same blued fire control parts anyway.

A good price if it is E Nickel...[;)]

They came both ways as I have had both--blue parts and all satin,,

DCS-That gun is completely stock. l bought one just like it NIB in the early 80s. Mixed blue/satin parts and all. Colt also put out some 2tone blue slide/satin frame. All in the Series 70. Sure wish l could locate a 2tone

Had one just like it also. Satin nickel with the blued controls. My serial # started with 70B. They were a limited run called "Pachmayer" Colts. Notice the Pachmayer grips with the Colt emblem.
