If you will notice there is a shallow flat milled on the left side of the barrel behind the rear sight, there was a SSN inscribed there that was removed and touched up.

I would hate to see what he called a deep flat. Looks awfully deep and its in the chamber area, I wonder how safe it is?

Is that not illegal with a removed serial number?

Removed serial number? I didn't see that in the pics or description. That old rifle may have never had a serial number, but if it had one, and if it has been removed, yes, it is illegal.

I magnified it and did.nt see anything filed on the left side, and indeed saw the S.N.... Are you talking about the flat spot on the right side? If so, could it be just the design of the gun?

the angle of the ends of the cuts makes it harder to judge depth of cut however width of cut makes it look deeper than i would feel comfy with...i have removed the 22s-l-lr stamp on some that i have redone to 22 mag but never looks this deep and are not the power of centerfire...feel a lot safer replacing barrel for other cosmetic reasons & especially with ??? reloads

I never thought they put a serial number on a barrel, usually it's on the receiver..

SSN.. Social Security Number. That looks like a .020-.025 deep flat.

I bought a SAKO years ago Cheap. someone had taken an angle grinder over the Chamber area to clear a large bell 50MM scope. [:(!][V]

The serial number on the Revelation is on the receiver. Must have been the SSN as mentioned.
