[http://www.GunBroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=404207794] The original barrel has been modified to fire 2 3/4 shells, I was told it was a factory mod but could not verify, it is stamped with 2 3/4 but the lettering does not match the factory markings , the extra barrel from the Sweet Sixteen was always chambered for the 2 3/4. I have never had any trouble with the longer shells. I used it extensively for ducks over decoys until the lead shot ban.

That's a pre war 16. At least the receiver trigger plate is. Location of the safety gives it away. Is the trigger plate a numbers match to the receiver?

Have you actually fired this with 2 3/4" cartridges? The pre war guns had 2 9/16" chambers and the odds are 50/50 whether it will reliably cycle 2 3/4" cartridges without having had the ejection port opened up.

I see, said the blind man.

You might want to add that it was previously altered to your listing.
Some that are familiar with the suicide safety 16's might pass over your listing thinking you have a short chambered gun with a later (2 3/4") barrel.

I acquired my pre war 16 from a gun show dealer for the same amount as your starting bid. He had told me the owner who traded it claimed it jammed all the time. He then proved his ignorance my telling me I was FOS concerning the short chamber and jamming.
In all fairness, I must give him credit for being honest about the jamming though.

I wish I had the funds to spare. I've got a burl walnut blank set just waiting for a project.
