Golf around Lexington, KY

Son & I will be headed home from Bristol and would like to play the morning of 08-27. We will be staying at the Red Roof just off I-75 and headed north. Any course suggestions guys?

I think Bright Leaf is near Lexington, not a bad course.

Below is a link to a list from a BING search. Second link is to the "Best" ones and from what I saw the first one on the list I know is a great course being a LOT from here go and play there. I live 35 miles ENE of where you are staying. I will call my FIL tomorrow to get the heads up on the best ones, he is a golfer, I never had an interest in it. I know IF you do not mind the 15 minute drive east on US 68 out of Lexington, they call it Paris Pike and it is a 4 lane road to Paris, there is a NICE course right before you get into Paris. Houston Oaks Golf Course is the one right before you get into Paris and it is NICE. Take some advice on it, rent a cart!!! lots of room with 18 holes spread out on a huge former horse farm with a nice size creek running right through the middle of the course. Third link is to Houston Oaks and tells a lot about it as well as pictures of different holes. Hope this helps. I am in Carlisle, KY. right up US 68 about 20 more miles from Houston Oaks. We have a 9 hole course at Lake Carnico BUT we call it "hill side hunt" being it is all hills. My 2 sons play some or used to. One is too busy working and the otehr is in the USAF. My son in law plays a little but he is not very big into it. My FIL lives and breathes golf, fishing, and of course church being he is a deacon of the church he belongs to!

Thanks for the info guys. I wasn't much of a golfer even when I was younger! It's a nice dad/son long weekend though.

The Bull in Richmond is a nice course. Richmond is about 20 miles from Lexington.
