Looking at more back surgery. My cancer has NOT come back, that is the good news. He told me that my back is all messed up from the reconstructive surgery and broken inplants. He wants to go in and remove some scar tissue and try to fix the broken peices. He also has to drill some holes for my nerves to stop being crushed. I have steel rods from my butt to my shoulder blades holding everything together.Iam like the bionic man.[:D] He said the surgery would take about 7 hours to preform.I just dont know. Iam in alot of pain but can handle it right now. I still work every day crawling in attics and crawlspaces.I just cant sit behind a desk. That acually bothers me more.I think I will for go the surgery for right now. I have degenerative disc disease and broke my back in four places in a car accident. I have accually broke my back twice.I think my surgon is getting tired of putting me back together. He looked real pissed this morning.

"Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic man. Oakie, will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster."

I'll see if I can find Steve Austin's doctor in my rolodex.

Seriously, I hope everything works out for you.

Good luck making an informed decision. I carry around 7 plates, 2 rods and 35 screws from 2 seperate "incidents". Had some hand surgery that went south and I regret ever having it done but can't turn back the clock. If you have any hesitation about surgery get a second opinion from a reputable (and hopefully well recommended) surgeon. Not all doctors are created equal and the patient, you in this case, needs options.

Hope things get better for you. Try and stay upbeat as much as possible. Some times i get bummed out thinking how bad i feel knowing i will feel bad tomorrow and next week and next year sometime it just gets you down. Try and keep your head up.

So many people I know that have had back surgery say the pain still persist. You're a better man than I am if you are crawling in attics! Good luck with your decision.

I am VERY glad to hear that the cancer isn't back. I was waiting to hear this good news!

I really hate that you had that car accident. You are a real trooper....most people would have used what you are going through as an excuse to not work like you do.

I think sometimes about what people deal with and I am sad to say I do not think I would handle things well. The people around you are very lucky that you are as strong as you are.
