45 ACP - Witness Steel or Ruger P90

Ok, I got talked out of the Taurus PT945 in my last post.
quote:This is the second time I've decided I want a 45 acp pistol. The first time I ended up buying a Glock 29 instead because I fell in love with the ballistics of the 10mm cartridge - especially the true 10mm hot loads. Anyway, I still want a 45 acp. I already have a polymer frame gun so this time I want all steel. I am definitely on a budget. I do not really care for full size frames - I'm not a big man. And this time I do not want a double action only pistol. I want single / double action with a hammer. So I have pretty much narrowed my choices to the Witness Compact Steel Wonder or the Taurus PT945. I have heard very good reviews of the witness line, but I have also heard of cracked frames and slides. On the other hand, Taurus isn't exactly top of the line, and I have read mixed reviews on this brand. I do like the fact that its stainless, though.
What I want to know is which one would perform better and last longer in the long run. Please don't offer suggestions for other calibers nor for a pistol that is outside of my price range. (Round about $500 plus the FFL fees / taxes / shipping.)
Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks, Michael
So now the question is which would be better - the Witness Steel 45 ACP or the Ruger P90? Any and all help is much appreciated.
Thanks, Michael [:D]

You really ought to look at a 1911. I and many others on here have had good luck with cheap Rock Island 1911's ($375 to $425).
If you have more money to blow ($550 range) look at the Springfield GI or Para Expert.
If you are looking at used 45's check out the Glock 21 ($450 range). There are deals to be had out there on them.
The Ruger is a great inexpensive pistol.

Oh! Personally, I hate Ruger! But I was stupid enough to buy a Taurus...Hell, I may start dating Colored Girls![:D]
Questionable ethnic remarks aside, Witness guns are made in Italy by Tanfoglio, which is a well-respected gunmaker in Italy's "gun valley".
Tanfoglio has been in business for about 60 years. Other than European-American arms, other American importers of Tanfoglio guns included FIE and Excam. Tanfoglio guns are more popular in Europe than in the USA.
The Witness itself is sort of a modified CZ-75. Its designed to run as a modular platform for easy caliber conversion, and it has a superior "dead-man" type trigger safety that doesn't compromise the trigger pull quality as much as the series-80 like one on the CZ-75B does.
IMO these are a performance bargain, in terms of what you get for what they cost.
Don't mistake "Inexpensive" with "Cheap". EAA Witnesses are great firearms for the price. Plus with the caliber-conversion-kits, you can switch calibers pretty easily.
below is a link to the only holster I could find that would fit the newer EEA pistols (the older ones didn't have an accessories rail on the frame the new ones do)

I debated buying one for a long time opted to go with something a little less exotic
they are great guns just remember that parts will be hard to find
As far as boydell's sense of humor: 4 separate posts featuring an over-the-hill faux-metal 80s hair band and a no-talent anorexic-looking skank serve to prove that he doesn't take himself or his appalling lack of taste too awfully seriously.
