I get 3 or 4 of those every week.
    Some with a 5K limit.
Someday I just might get them all, max them out and skip the country.
    Maybe move to Thailand.
    Don't tell my wife.[:D]

Run it up to the max and pay it off the next day. Make them lose money.

Coincidentally, I was behind a woman? yesterday at a checkout counter.
She honestly swiped 15 cards before the machine found one that wasn't maxed out.

They still get 3.5 to 5% on each transaction, but yes the people with 5 (or more) maxed out cards are their bread and butter.

I would NEVER accept a credit card they simply sent me without an application from me. Having one is almost mandatory these days, but I'd research a few before I applied fr one.

Your interest rate will depend a lot on your existing credit rating. If you've never had a card, your rating might be so low that you can't get a "preferred" interest rate.

Oddly, paying one off every month is not the way to max your credit rating. You have to have some debt to get he best credit rating. (Yeah, I know; that's nuts.) It may be optimal for your credit rating to have a card and keep a small balance on it, paying off almost all your charges every month.

Be sure to never pay late or skip a payment, even if they say you can do that. Both are ruinous to your credit score.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I have one card in my bill fold and it's a debit card.

Also since retiring last October I now no longer own a cell phone and I no longer wear a watch.

..My wife pays off the credit cards every month. True that that's not the way to build ratings. I figure that car and truck payments make up for it. I haven't checked in years, but it was somewhere around 820 or so.

If you have just a little discipline, a credit card can get you free money for things you are purchasing every day anyways.

Yes, the cash back rewards are great. I pay for everything with credit cards and pay them off each statement. No different to me than using a debit card or cash. Plus I get money back. Don

I'm with U Rocky.I think thats Y my "introductory" rate is so high. I have read all the fine print.I think, the best thing for me, right now,is to chuck it into the garbage.
I am honored that you would take notice and respond to my post sir.
I know that U wouldn't send a fellow Patriot astray..

Don't just chuck it in the garbage. Chop it up or shred it.

I shred ALL unsolicited letters with insurance, credit, vacation or other offers. All an identity thief needs is a form with your name on it that can be filled out, and he's got you.

If you work it right credit cards are a pretty good deal. By paying your recurring monthly bills with the credit card you are getting an interest free loan for a month, every month.

I live on a credit card. I have all my recurring bills set up for automatic payment on the credit card. I write one check a month to the Church. I pay the credit card with a credit union transfer.

I still have my USAA and NFCU cards, but I use the amazon.com (CHASE) account. I get back between 1? and 3? on the dollar in amazon.com free money. I'm gonna get me a free cast iron frying pan. [:)]

What I used to do was stick everything in Postage paid envelope and send it back to them Blank sometimes I would even put their competitors stuff in theirs.

With how many I'm getting now think I need to do that again.

Some of the cash back cards are good and they give you some insurance on bad buys...
