Does the tendon hook on there??

It's not swollen, just hurts when I flex it. Also hurts if I push on it.

Plantars Faceitis! Do some research, get some arch supports, and lose some weight.

I went down that road about ten years ago standing on a concrete floor all day .. Dr told me his business went 10 fold after the plant opened up , made up some supports for my arches and several cortisone shots ( ouch is not the best way to describe them ) old age and hard surfaces do not mix well on your feet . took a few months but all better , and knock on wood have not had any more issues .

Several possible causes of Plantar Fasciitis. Same is true for heel pain.

If it's chronic find yourself a good foot doctor. Especially if it is getting worse.

I had the worst possible sort. Required reconstructive surgery of both feet and months of recovery and physical therapy. Completely successful too, wish I'd done it years sooner.

If it was plantar faciitis you'd sure know it! Your arch would feel like you were stepping on an ice pick! Rear of the heel would lean towards achilles strained. Im going through that right now with trying to go through therapy and restrengthen my lower leg after what was basically a reconstruction of my heel and 10 months of being laid up.
Im no doctor but can pretend to know what im talking about on the internet! If it doesnt go away soon get to a foot doctor before it gets worse. You dont want to be tearing anything up in a foot! Besides a severely broken heel , I also had tendons severed and damaged and they are way harder to heal up and bounce back from compared to a bone break...

    Many possibilities.

Some of these things are easy to fix, some not. Sometimes a single shot of Cortisone is a permanent fix. Other times, something more is needed.

Takes a doc to tell you what's really going on in there and what your options are.

I just love it when folks come to GD for medical advice. Do you go to a doctor to talk about guns? If it persists see a doctor.

Yes, Captain Obvious, if it persists I will see a doctor. [:D]

I wasn't asking for step by step instructions so I could perform my own suborbital lobotomy.

The old "been there, done that" means a lot to me. Doctors are not infallible, nor do they always work 100% in the patients best interest.

Do a google search the plantar fascia problems go under from your big toe to your Achilles tendon. The ligament attaching over time can cause problems.

If it were gout your big toe would be red and swollen...

A friend of mine does this.Fills a small plastic bottle with water and freezes it.Then rolls it about under His foot.Simple but He say it works

    Hey! That's not nice!

Thinking about it, this heel pain came on right when the weather dried up and I started wearing sandals a lot. And, I've walked a lot in the last few days with them. Think I will wear some decent shoes for a few days, see if that takes care of it.

What a bunch of rocket scientists.

If it only hurts when you flex it or push on it- guess what???

DON'T Flex it or Push on it and life will be great.
