The past few years I have gotten into a funk.I hardly ever shoot, but I still collect. It's time to change that. My new goal is to throw some lead down range once a week.
Today I am taking out my Ruger No1 International chambered in 7x57. I bought this rifle in June 2013 and have only shot it one time. I should be ashamed.

Getting ready to go to the range tomorrow. Casting some .50 and .54 cal bullets, rolling some paper cartridges for my Sharps paper cutter.

Going to be a nice day. Going by my self for some alone time that I've been needing. Work has been getting to me lately. Dang city code enforcement wanting to inspect the property. No violations, just want to make sure that I'm not a slum lord. Tenants must volunteer for the inspection and be home on that day. If not enough volunteers they get a court order and come back. Guess what I'll do is whoever volunteers give them a $50.00 break on there rent.

Enough rant got to get the pot warmed up.

Hit the range late yesterday. I have been thinking of shooting a three gun match this summer. Spent some time with my Rem 870 HD and some steel targets. Good time.

I forgot how fun this shooting can be. Gonna hit it again this week.
Anyone have any range drills they use for Shotgun ??

Lead is particularly harmful to growing brains and nervous systems.

I hope she gets D-Lead hand wipes and plenty of beans and milk before and after shooting.

That pistol is bigger than she is [:D] but judging from the target she handled it very well.

And I noticed how you taught her how to keep her Finger off the trigger until she's ready to shoot.[:)] I approve [^][^]

I'm glad that lead only began being harmful in the past few years. When I was a kid, I used to hold lead pellets in my mouth as I was shooting my pellet gun. Made for faster reloading. Didn't seem to hurt me.

She's shooting outside.( best ventilation possible) And I would assume dad loaded the magazines up. Even if not chances are their copper plated bullets. Where would the lead exposure come from?

I loaded and shot many hundreds if not a few thousand lrn 22 as a child. Many I loaded myself in that single shot rifle. Maybe that explains some things. [:o)]

I get the D lead hand wipes but what's up with the beans and milk deal?

She really concentrates on the safety and form on her draw, grip and stance, which is awesome. Think I've created a shooter. All she wants to do now is practice.[:)]

As far as the lead thing goes, all copper jacketed. And yes,she loads her own mags.

Lead competes with zinc and calcium for absorption. If your body has plenty, you will absorb less lead.

Beans have phytic acid. It is a natural chelator. The fiber would also help carry the lead out before absorption.

I wish they made chlorate primed ammo. So you have to wash your gun to prevent rust, big deal. It worked great for many years.
