When did this happen?

Got a mail ad from Bass Pro including a Winchester Model 94 priced at $1050. Said that was $30 off regular price. Damn. When did the M94 become an $1,100 rifle?

When did they start making 45 ACP with small primers? Why?

Looking to pick up some 45 brass on the auction side I found some interesting things. One guy won't ship to an FFL. Why not? What difference does it make?

One guy had a starting price of $17.99 for 500 pieces but he wants $35 for shipping.

Another seller warned all the brass is discolored and stained. Wow. Really makes me want to bid on it.

One seller said he doesn't have a permanent mailing address. If you win the auction email him and he'll tell you where to send payment. Yeah, right...

That is the new lead free primers that some manufacturers are using. Federal and Blazer have been using them for awhile now

The only time it is a concern, is if you are reloading and get the two style cases intermixed. That may cause a KABOOM as you try to squeeze a large primer into a small primer hole.

Other than that, I have chronographed both types with identical loads, and have not found any significant difference in performance.

I guess you just have to make sure the cases are separated by primer size...

I would prefer to stick with large size just out of habit and for the convenience of not having to sort them.

Doesn't look like it was sorted very well, from looking at the pic.quote:Originally posted by bpost

Federal has been making 45ACP with SPPs primers for some time now. As far as I know, Federal is the only one making such ammo. It saves money according to FC and you really don't need a LPP for 45 ACP anyway based on the amount of powder. However, if you have been reloading 45ACP for 40 years, it can be a PITA.
I used to have a mess of 38 Spls that used LPPs,

I too, found out the hard way of such changes several years ago. I usually toss FC.

Blazer also. When I started loading 45's I purpoely bought small primer 45 brass, 'cause I had a lot of SPP and no LPP, so that gave me one less thing to stockpile.
