Freaking HILARIOUS...LF and the BK debacle

Locust Fork

Locust Fork is a small Alabama town. We have a highway that runs up the center of "town" with the school....about 50 churches....Jacks (fast food)....a small strip mall with nothing but a pharmacy, dentist office, Mexican place, and Subway. There are TWO gas stations...one is called the "produce" because it used to be the only store and was a produce stand for a long time. We got a Dollar General some time ago. Things are growing.

We are a DRY county...meaning there are no alcohol sales....did I mention we have at least 50 churches???

This place is almost Mayberry....which is good and bad. I'm in no hurry to see things change. I like driving an hour for my excitement and coming on back to this po-dunk town.

There is a "whats happening in Locust Fork" page on Facebook that is good for a laugh from time to time.....mostly people trying to sell junk. Today they are all in an uproar over BURGER KING.

They are having a city council meeting tomorrow to discuss there being a Burger King built here. People are actually against it and have been tossing their ideas in the hat....."I want a Chikfila"...."I want a Tacobell"...."I want Popeyes"......like you actually just attend a meeting and tell the city what to build.

Its like these people think they are playing a Sims game where you get to build your own city.

I'll be shocked if we get a BK anytime soon. I'd do anything if they actually had a live feed of this meeting. I'd love to share that with the world. Its certain to be BIG FUN!

A Chick Fil A would be a huge winner there. Costs for the franchise are low, but getting approved is even lower. You have to be super churchy to get the franchise. Once that is done however, buy extra skid steers to load all the cash into a truck....

I agree that a Chikfila would be a gold mine here...but I heard it was really pricey to get a franchise. I heard it was in the ballpark of 2 million dollars to get one going. That might be way off, but either way my bank account couldn't get a decent ghetto chicken-n-waffle shack going....much less anything the fine folks of Locust Fork Alabama would "approve" of.

They put a chic-fil-a up the road in Princeton, WV about a year ago. It's right off I-77. First few days the police were there directing traffic. Lines two or three deep around the store. I believe they have made their $2 million back already.
I prefer Bojangles steak and egg biscuits, myself.

I know how you feel. I grew up in a very small town, dry county no Fast food.

Change is tough in a town like that.
