Black tie optional event...Larry and Karen there

One of Larry's favorite people on the planet is one of the teachers at Montevallo (where Larry went to college.) Karen Graffeo is a very talented person...soft spoken, cute as a button and just a ball of energy. She is a photographer that has made a nice name for herself. Our 15 year old is named after Karen and she has recently become good friends with her namesake.
Tonite there was an event downtown at the Kirkland Clinic called "Art-Blink" ....Karen Graffeo said it is the art version of Iron Chef. Which I don't understand but I can only imagine what that means. Larry is currently at this thing with our Karen. I don't go to many things where Larry's college buddies gather. I have been to a few things and it was the most awkward thing ever.
So...since they had this thing we had to go buy Larry some clothes today. A "cabana shirt" and some khaki pants were about as upscale as you are going to get Larry to dress. The funniest thing we ran into were the shoes. Larry has worn Timberland brown leather boots for over 20 years now. Every time he goes to get shoes he gets this same kind!!! He calls them his "wedding to the grave" shoes.
We drove this poor salesman NUTS this afternoon. He must have tried on 15 different kinds of shoes before settling on Merrils. He really wanted something that he could slip on. You should have seen him...bouncing around in each pair he put on like he was imitating a moon walk...making faces...pauses and staring off into space as he THOUGHT about his feet. It really was something else.
I can't wait until they get home and I can hear how it was!
