I went to Gander earlier to kill some time. While I was there I thought I would get some powder for reloading my 7mm Rem. so I get three pounds of IMR 7828 and then I noticed that the price had been blacked out with a marker. So I asked for a price check and they wanted $39.99 for a pound of powder!!
I knew that they were high but man now they have gone completely crazy.
I can get it at the local gun club for $22 per lb. I won't go back.

.45 Acp mega paks for 149.00 for 250 Rnds. The used guns are priced higher than what I can buy new at my local ma&pa store and online. They had a used 500 S&W for 1025.00 and the guy at the counter said the prices are firm.I told him no thanks...........
out there that think the Gander
Mountain "used gun trade-in" policy
sucks? Took a perfectly good
Ithaca Model 37 12 ga. in to trade
on an 7600 Rem. carbine (the best
37 of have of 7 of them). Guy
looked at it and remarked "nice
gun", then looked closer and saw it
had one slide bar(standard) and
said that Gander Mtn. had a policy
that they could not take a gun with
just one bar because (get this) they warranty all used guns and if
the single bar breaks, they have a
warranty claim. I told him that I
had brought along a newish Model 94
but would'nt bother bringing it in
cause it only had one lever, one
trigger, and one barrel and surely
did'nt want them to take a chance on something like that! Incidently, this is'nt the first
time. I've taken NIB rifles in and
had the yokel look them up in their
Blue Book of Used Guns and offer
50% of listed used price!
Man what a store. Nice people, and lots of toys.[:)][:D][:)][:D][:)]
Just because Gander Mtn. is a chain, does not mean that the sale will be the same in every location. Different stores will have slightly different inventory and the surrounding communities will have a different economic makeup. The stores under the most financial pressure will obviously try to turn inventory faster.

NILES, Ohio -
A going out of business sale is underway at Gander Mountain stores in Niles and the rest of the country, but there is still a chance that the store on Niles Cortland Road may survive.
Signs posted at the store located at the Eastwood Mall Complex boast of savings of up to 30 % on outdoor items after a bankruptcy judge approved the liquidation sale on Thursday.
Camping World, a company that sells recreational vehicle products, is taking over Gander Mountain and its boating business, but is only obligated to operate a minimum of 17 of the existing 160 Gander Mountain stores.
?The structure of our deal provides much flexibility and will not only allow us to refine the inventory selection and select only those stores which are profitable or we believe have a clear path to profitability,? said Marcus Lemonis, Chairman and CEO of Camping World in a statement.
During a conference call held Thursday afternoon, Lemonis said it could take several months to determine which stores will close, noting that they have until October to decide.
Lemonis said since they are looking to only keep profitable stores open they may be renegotiating leases with some property owners.
He says the idea behind the liquidation sales at all Gander Mountain stores is to get rid of current inventory and start with what he calls ?a clean slate?
As part of its bankruptcy, Gander Mountain announced in March that it planned to close 32 under performing stores. The location in the Niles Eastwood Mall Complex was not on that list.
Joe Bell, Director of Corporate Communications for the Cafaro Company which operates the Eastwood Mall, told 21 News on Wednesday and again on Thursday that he had not heard anything official about closing the Niles Store.
Bell said he doesn't know why someone would close the Gander Mountain here since the new, larger location at 2390 Niles Cortland Road NE opened just one year ago.
Just in case the store closes, Bell says the Cafaro Company is putting feelers out for any retailers who might be interested in a brand new building that he says is well suited for an outdoor retail business.

Best.

Last few years, several Gander Mts. have opened near me. Now they are on the way out. Just about everything I have for reloading came from Gander back in the catalog days. We were really happy when they opened a store here.
Even a Cabela's not that far away. I hear they are on the way out too. Only been here a couple of years. I spend a hefty amount at Cabela's, although mostly online. I'd like to see them stay open. Just damn.
higher than normal.

Best.
niles is about 8 miles from me. it is a new bigger store that opened up about a year ago. we will see.
The local store is offering 30 to 10% off various items, but nothing off ammo & firearms...[V]

a 30% sale there should bring the prices down to normal prices
Yep
The private firm closing these stores gets to keep a big hunk of money if items are sold for XXX percent above cost.
Merc
The store closest to me is not closing but 3 others in neighboring suburbs are getting the ax. Just trying to decide how far to drive for an unknown discount. I won't drive far for a 15% discount.
It says here they're all closing:

According to the link you posted the new owner is keeping at least 70 stores open. He bought everything but the inventory in the stores and that is being sold by a liquidator like bpost said.
