I got asked to attend a venison dinner at the Maple Shade sportsman club. It is really a social club. They have a 25 and 50 yard pistol range and one trap house, but no one shoots. The ranges are open to use, but no one has shot there in at least six months they said. The pistol range has a roof and three stations. They have a huge hall with a bar, pool table, shuffle board, darts and so on. They also have a lot of gatherings. I went to one last year called night at the races. You can go and they simulcast horse races and you can bet on them. It only cost 60 dollars a year to belong, but very hard to get into. You have to attend 12 meetings and three events before they will even give you a application to join. It takes a year to get in and you have to have a sponsor. Most of the members are into fishing and golf, not really shooting. They just happen to have a property with gun ranges. Do you belong to any social club and what are they like, pros and cons.???? It sounds like fun! I'm not in anything, but some of the people I deal with regularly are. They love it. I think it is more of a networking deal than anything. The members do their best to "scratch" each other's backs.

I could join Elks, Eagles, or Odd Fellows, but I'm a Rotarian.
Closest thing to a "Social Club" around here is Del Norte Gun Club; which I joined 3 years ago, helped restock trap machines, made suggestions & have let my membership lapse.
Driving 25 miles of unimproved dirt/caliche trails to get there kinda took a toll on my continued participation.
There's an indoor range 6 blocks from home, so I do most of my getting it on paper there.

I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have the likes of me for a member!

Go for it Oakie, you can sit around with the Tycoons and smoke cigars and get stock tips!

Heck for 60 bucks if you didn't do anything but use the range it would probably be a good deal.

But hey aren't you moving anyway?
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Not really those type of people. They are all into fishing and golf and other sports, just most don't own or shoot guns. Some do, but not many. I am going to use the ranges[;)] Just looking for some place to go relax and get rid of stress, without the family. Sometimes you just need a break[;)] I like to meet new people and have connections too, so I never thought about it that way[:)]
