AR-15 question

I finally got a chance to take the Bushmaster out and it shot great! But, after about 150 rounds I started getting failures to extract the shell casing. I decided that the rifle must have gotten dirty and went home to clean it. During my cleaning I discovered the reason for the problem, the bolt carrier key had come loose. I tightened the allen head screws down, but now I'm worried that it'll loosen up again. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, did you use any type of thread locking compound to keep it from reoccurring?

Thanks,
G36

I'm thinking of buying a new gun, and somebody told me about the Olympic Arms Plinker Plus. I like the price, because I can't really spend much, because of the holidays approaching fast. Does anybody have any opinions on it?

What are your opinions about C.A.I Centurion AR's? They seem to be selling for less than others out there. Is it as simple as "you get what you pay for?" If thats true is Colt really worth the extra 4-600 bucks they seem to get?

I'm beginning to think that an AR is an AR is an AR. Just get a receiver and build yer own.

Is there any good reason why one should/should not try for a set up on a flat top ar15 that allowed the simultaneus use of a scope and iron sights. My thinking was what if you dropped you gun on its scope and now its a paperweight and the varmint you want to shoot is right there in from of you.

Has anyone tried that? Is it common uncommon?

Does a free float handguard worth the time & $ ? And how much acc. improvment can one expect ? Is it really worth it ? My upper is bushy A2 heavy ,full rail hanguard and standard front sight .
    Thx in advance !

I've got a post ban lower and a 7" barrel to go with it.
Should I, Can I, Or do I have to register the lower as a SAW pistol, or a SBR??? Anyone here have a a thought???

a small portion of each paycheck is going to be set aside for the purchase of an Ar-15. I know there are a myriad of makers and accessories, but what all calibers are available as well?

Most scopes on flat tops use QD mounts.
Takes less than 5 seconds to remove the scope.

My scope pops right off in seconds. I keep MAGPUL pop up sights in my pocket.

The newer style Bushnell Red/Green T-Dot has a set of back up sights attached right to the top of the sight itself.

If that varmint is human sized and that close then you should be able to hit center mass without using sights, with a little practice. Practice going from low ready to high ready and using the 11-o-clock line down the side of your rifle as a reference for aiming. According to my army instructors this is good for 100m... In my opinion it is realistically useful for a first round hit up to 50m. To be clear about low and high ready positions, High ready is when you're looking down the sights and ready to fire. Low ready is identical but your muzzle would be pointed around the feet of a person standing 20 feet in front of you while your eyes are straight ahead (this statement is only a reference to angle of your rifle and is not a suggestion of what is safe).

In the army, my ACOG scope did have quick releases on it but in my unit all accountable items on a rifle were to be wired down with lacing wire. I don't recall what I did with the flip-up iron sights that I may have been given for my rifle but a picture of me when I was deployed does not show them installed so I guess if my scope failed I would be effective out to 50m.

Most importantly, if you are depending on your rifle to always work as you seem to be implying by wanting a backup, then you should treat it with the care necessary to keep from breaking it. If you are hopelessly clumsy then use military grade parts as those are required to stand up to above normal abuse.
