    The mic didn't do that any justice, I had the window down about 1/4 and it hurt my ears. When I let off the jakes it echoed for a few seconds. Got a few thumbs up from the cars that passed me and one middle finger, figgered that was just a an old GB prude [:D]

    He did that coming straight at me in the Tractor Supply parking lot, about 50yrds away....it makes the frickin ground shake! I couldn't imagine what it really sounded like inside that tunnel.

    we have a some friends who farm down the road from us there son and

    BSR your a fellow I can relate too [:D]
    my youngest son is a good friend he applies his Jake brake when going by the house . use to piss my wife off as it was all hours and always a surprise ( local farmer )
    we also have a neighbor who started driving a truck but now owns a decent size trucking company his drivers seem to like to announce there passing by doing the same ( his main shop is about 1/2 mile up the road from us .
    I do not care I figure when we are having what must sound like a small war going on shooting it evens out
    and I also go out into the yard at all hours to rid the pest if necessary and I would say it provides a wake up call for them .
    no hard feelings we still get along with all

    This time of year when trees are bare, I can hear those rumbling jakes from I-40 a mile or so thru the woods as they hit the curve to I-85.
    I'd rather hear that than the sirens.[8D]

    They work. Did you ever have a dirt bike with a compression release? Works pretty much the same way.
    Most are 3 stage, one brake stage works on two of the 6 cylinders, and can be set for 1,2, or all 3. Set on 3 it's the loudest, especially when it isn't muffled like BSR's. I'm not sure he even has mufflers.[:)]
    When it's kicked on, the higher the RPM, the more effect it has, and more noise. Set on 3, with no load, or even more so with no trailer and a high RPM, it'll about stand it on it's nose.

    i have 8" straights on my Black Pete with the cat engine they make about the sweetest sound there can be from jakes..nice and deep cackle

    My Youngest is 26, he had been driving for prime for about 3 years but kept having truck problems and just one day had enough and walked away. I set him up with a new company here in Arkansas,He called me and said DAD what have you got me into,,they gave me an International Eagle thats so old it has 8" stacks going out the top over the sleeper and does not use DEF. After his first day on the road he called me like a kid in a candy store saying saying do you know what this truck will do [:D]
