If anyone is in the market for a AR in 308 take a look at the sig 716 I've been shopping around more like looking I quess, I took a real close look at the FNH scar (dam nice) but I ended up with sig 716. I can't say enough good things about it, I have shot the heck out of it out back here in the pasture and it eats anything I put through it. I mounted a BI pod and tac scope and dialed it in, (sorry) but nothing but smiles. This may not be your cup of tea but if you are thinking about a 308 (AR) take a look. Take Care.

It is now a little different.
I moved the front grip back and put on a Harris Bi-Pod and I installed the one thing that improves any AR even SCARs need one; a Geissele trigger (SSA-E)
Mine will see double duty using quick disconnect mounts. As a close quarter gun the EOTech555 and as a medium range sniper I intend on getting a 10X mil-dot.
My 716 has a problem and had to go back to Sig:
they sent a 2day label no charge and changed out the BCG and had it back to me 10 days after i sent it, very impressive service.
They take the more standard magazine(although there is really no 308 standard) and I bought a bunch of Magpul 20 round mags.
For the money it is a better buy than the SCAR17 seeing with a Geissele trigger this still under 2K while with the Geissele in the SCAR you are over 3K and that grand will pay for the EOTech and the sniper scope and mounts.
I have shot both a fair amount and the SCAR is wonderful just not enough to justify the extra money but strictly IMO

What mags does it take?
It comes with 1 PMAG that is one reason I went with this. The $$ of the PMAG mag is around $20 the FNH which again is one hell of a gun but extra mags are around $40 to $50 each (unless I have it wrong)I just think for the money this sig is built very well and does not break the bank for extra toys.
