Thanks for the heads up, beneteau.

It is a sad and interesting story.

Getting ready to start in Arizona.

I have had the privilege and honor to visit the Arizona Memorial. I am really looking forward to the show.

The memorial is a very powerful place. Virtually impossible to keep a dry eye standing there.

The preview of the show shows them diving and suggesting they are going to take DNA samples. Must see where this goes.

watched a pbs on the ARIZONA with a remote drone going in ...also one of the surviving sailors serving then was there with HONORS...i thought divers were not allowed to go in because it was designatd as a tomb

it was approved officially. the divers could only go into the open area at the stern and that is a small area. that drone sub got down into the 3rd deck, which gets very little oxygen and the state of preservation is amazing. a full officers uniform was still on a hanger in one of the living quarters.

Recorded and watched them both, beneteau.

Had not seen the drydock photos of the West Virginia and Oklahoma before seeing the show.

    Thanks again.

They definitely don't let recreational divers in. But, they do occasionally let in official divers performing duties to maintain and protect the ship as a tomb. I have no objections to that. It is no different than the maintenance and repairs that have to be performed at similar places, like Arlington. I got to visit the Arizona about a year ago. I strongly recommend the visit to everyone. The monument above the wreck is just beautiful. The caretakers are great and are a wealth of information if you have any questions. Everyone is on their best behavior and is very respectful during the visit. If you drive over to Ford Island, you can also visit the Missouri and the Omaha. It is a great way to spend a day.
