With the lighter or matches she likely carries in her pack

And remember it is a TV show....[:)]

Stove had a striker or the electricity was still on in the house?
Could be the house was on solar.

Imagine there are still lots of full propane tanks in the zombie apocalypse.

I understand its TV, but she sure didn't use a lighter just the knob on the stove... maybe it was battery....

lord,,,all all of you to young to remember when stoves had a full time pilot light that does not need electric to work. I just got rid of the one here in this house about 2 years ago and had to run a power cord so the new one had a place to get power so it would work. question is Terminus full of cannibals,,that's an awful long BBQ girl that woman was tending.

Pilot light. Stoves used to have a pilot light that stayed lit 24/7. No electronic ignition or matches needed.

Not to steal the thread. We found this 1950's Home Comfort wood/ gas stove on our last ride in an abandoned house. Talk to a few people and found who owned the place and am now in the process of contacting the owner about getting the stove. It has been years since I have saw a Gas/Wood combo cook stove and this one is in very good shape.

You guys beat me to it - Pilot Light !

We had gas stoves with pilot lights till about the early 1990's.

Yeah I guess a pilot light is what it had, cause I didn't see any igniter when I watched it awhile ago cause they did a close up on the burner.... weird how the gas is still flowing but no place has any electricity...

Cannibals is my guess. Something weird about her and the lack of people outside the "sanctuary".

Sorry, I was remembering the old gas stove my Grandmother had that had no pilot light at all......I remember watching her light a wooden stick match and light the stove with it every time she used it.........

I did not notice the stove and figured as the place was old and rustic, the stove was an old one............

Car batteries go dead in a less than 2 years?
Suspending reality, I'd say they got lucky and found a mini-van that had been driven in the last couple of months.

Cannibals was my thought as well. The place seemed too empty and too easy to get into.

You can't have an apocalypse story without cannibals! [;)]

I am waiting for when Rick's group meets up with Daryl's group.....THAT should throw some sparks! Probably not 'til next season though.

Plus, Mary's cheery "We'll make you a plate."

A little homage to "To Serve Man"?

there is something wrong with the gates NOT being locked. If you are a cannibal, then that's all fine and dandy, but they did nothing to keep the walkers OUT of Terminus. Strange indeed.....[?]

Why don't they build a street clearing machine that looks like an upside down lawnmower?

Like a 10 foot wide swath of spinning blades?

Terminus in Roman times was a place for sacrifice. They sacrificed crop foods, wine and goats and other animals and then had a feast.

With all of the vegetables growing around the place. Maybe humans are exchanged for goats.

    BINGO on pilot light...

DOUBLE BINGO on Terminus being Cannibal C.E.N.T.R.A.L
    IMHO of course.

All those tracks leading into a central point equates to constant food supply ... As well as other supplies. [;)]

Remember too... There were lock(s) on the gate(s) ... but they weren't locked... YET.

Absolutely, cannibals... NO doubts in my mind...

And I don't believe I would have just walked in without watching the place first...
From a safe vantage point. Dumbest move they've made as of yet...

    All the make believe aside...

One thing this show is doing is providing a glimpse into what we can expect when the SHTF...

Survival of the fittest and smartest... Not necessarily the strongest.
The necessity of protecting one's self... Comes from use of weapons.
The understanding that greed is stronger than survival instincts...
That knowledge doesn't necessarily come from books.
And safety is in numbers... You DON'T want to go it alone.

I agree that something suspicious is going on at Terminus. However, the guy that Tyrese tried to save from the walkers, who told him to go to Terminus, seemed sincere. Unless... the dying man had starving familiy members still at Terminus who he wanted to help by sending them more "cattle". [;)][:D]
Agree on the foolish move of barging right in. After their past experiences with strangers, such as Woodbury, a day or two of observation and reconnaissance was in order.
