Either it's a large scale Special Forces Exercise:

Or it's the End of the World As We Know It:

Is Jade Helm an actual person or another type of Spec.Ops group?

"Operation Jade Helm", just the name of the operation. The military does enjoy picking these names.

Lots of other training operations like this have happened over the years. Somehow, the "Crazy" went viral over this one. Enough conspiracy theories to choke a flying saucer's crew of flying purple people eaters.

I see a potential for problems if they go outside their rules. We encountered and detained military/DOD personnel involved in suspicious activity that were determined to be "training". It is alarming.

"Jade Helm" appears to be pushing the limits of legality. I said "appears" as I don't yet know. What I do know is that our federal government has no authority to encroach on the lives and liberties of private citizens without our express consent or without a sound reason to do so. By this I mean a reason granted by law.

At least here in the US I'd guess that obtaining the consent of everyone in a community would be impossible. About the time some military yokel placed an illegal impediment in front of my home or on my way to wherever I deemed fit to travel there would be problems. I'd expect not only problems with common citizens but with my local police forces as military government is patently illegal in all but a very few instances.

I think what bothers me most is that even a small miscalculation on the part of government could very well lead us down a path with unintended consequences. Our military while being big and bad doesn't historically do well when dealing with a hostile population. This not only applies to recent experiences going back to Vietnam but also applies to times well before the 1960's.

King George and the British Empire owned the biggest and baddest military on earth in the 1770's. Face to face on their terms the British military could not be defeated, yet when faced with non-conventional tactics their military failed to suppress a much weaker opponent. Weaker at least in theory but more determined and unconventional.

A lesson we seem unable to grasp is that it makes little difference about having overwhelming force if one cannot sleep peacefully and cannot move without fear. There comes a point where the expense is too much to justify the hoped for end.

Must be a conspiracy that Texas has the State Guard monitoring these exercises. Also,Chris, never has the Military conducted an exercise of this scope within the public.

If the local PD tries to "apprehend" Special forces that should be a real hoot.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Well it presents a problem if they #1 physically resist civilian authority, #2 flee and/or #3 are armed with weapons with live ammunition. If this is in fact a "training" event they should have strict orders to comply with civilian authority if they are challenged. If they can't move around freely and undetected then they have failed at their training mission. Being "special forces" doesn't make them bullet proof.

If anyone does figure out where all these evil purveyors of martial law are hanging out, try to make nice with them. Swing by the nearest donut shop and pick up several dozen dozens of a sweet treat for our hard working troops.

Or, there's always Gatorade and bagels. That's even better.

Out of the seven states of operation, Texas/Utah is the hostile zone.

I forgot this was happening today. I was driving from Fort Morgan CO to Scottsbluff NE and the on to Cheyenne WY today I encountered 8 different hummers with guns mounted on a turet on top of the hummer. It Makes a guy a little uneasy when your driving down the interstate with a hummer pulled off to the side of and over pass with a 50 cal pointed at you

So if the Reds are hostile and the Blues are friendly, what's Brown New Mexico?

That number of hummers east of Cheyenne is normal. F. E. Warren AFB just doing their thing with the active missiles. Were any south of Colorado 14? If so, that is unusual. From Hwy 14 north on your route you can encounter them any time.

Apparently the creator of this map didn't bother to proof read it. Excercise?

It's the same thing the military has been doing forever, only this year, Alex Jones found out the name of it.

Yep. Security troops protecting the USAF Minuteman nuclear ICBMs. My wife used to one of those folks. MANY years ago. [;)]
