No Show Ammo

A long back order of 2K rounds of .223 ammo from S. Guide left on side porh by Fed Ex but where is it?

Fed Ex tracking says delivered and left on side porch of residence. No where to be found the evening of delivery. House 100 yards off country road and theft unlikely because my Stihl chainsaw was still there.

Fed Ex and S. Guide says too bad so das since Fed Ex confirmed delivery and end of story.

Wow, feel very much you know what after being tagged for over $700 and nothing to show for it.

Any legal recourse or is tough beans as they said?

Fed Ex requires a signature on $700 or more .
I have had to go pick up orders a few times because I was not going to be home .

Hopefully you paid by credit card. Dispute the charge for nondelivery of merchandise.

Probably sitting at the FedEx drivers home right now being listed online for sale. It's the honor system with those drivers and deliveries and it's your word against his. [V]

Fed Ex required an adult to sign for all ammo I've had delivered.

Absolutely do not take it laying down. Dispute it with FedEx. Dispute it with your credit card company.

Demand to see the signature that signed for it. If it is not your signature, call the cops and report a theft of thousands of rounds of ammunition from FedEx.

Got home owners insurance? It may cover the theft too.

I've not had to sign for any of the 4 ammo orders I've received thru FedEx since December. Prior to that a sig has been required, not sure what changed.

I have had to sign for every ammo order carried by UPS and FedEx in the past few years. That's at least a dozen. Including a FedEx order last week. That's their rules for ORM-D SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION labeled packages.

If not properly marked or identified UPS and FedEx may deny a claim for a lost ammo shipment.

To avoid problems I stopped having ammo come directly to my home and then being left outside. My suggestion is have it shipped UPS GROUND to a UPS Customer Center address, attention to your name and phone number. Make certain the seller provides a Tracking number.

You have to pick it up, but it sure takes out the risk and UPS cannot claim they delivered it already.

This worked out especially well when a seller failed to give me a tracking number, failed to mark the package ORM-D and then used an old dry rotted box that burst on a package conveyor. Took me and the UPS Customer Center manager 90 minutes of searching, we found the last of 500 .38 Special rounds.

I've had to sign for ammo from Cabelas, Midway and Double Tap. IMO if I were expecting an order of $700 worth of ammo I would mandate an adult signature when I placed the order to CYA.

I will never use fedex again, last time they dropped a case of 7.62x25 two blocks away at a vacant house. They claimed it was signed for but it wasn't. I found it driving by sitting on the porch 4 days after they left it there.

surely you jest good sir. even if they paid it, it wouldnt be worth the increase in your rates in the long run..

i would charge back the purchase. your card company will almost certainly side with you(they nearly almost always do).

Well, I had a major claim for a break in to my 4x4 that stole two way radios and equipment packs used in my EMT / Rescue Dude Daze. Insurance covered it and no change in premium.

Years later, another insurance company and a different home I had a water pipe burst. $14,000 repair. No hit to the premium.

At $700 the big concern would be deductible. Some folks like low deductibles, some high and some just take whatever the default is they were offered.

Demand to see the signature...thru Sportsmans Guide...when you sign it is saved in FedEx's computer system...my 2 cents

Finally getting some cooperation from the retailer who said they will make the order right. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Not mine....I have had 4 separate ammo deliveries recently and Fed Ex left two on the porch and the other two the driver never asked for a signature.

Maybe it's just me but I don't like holding a seller or retail company responsible for the shortcomings of the delivering carrier.

Last delivery By Fed_EX for Ammo they left it in the Ditch in my drive. At the Spot they got stuck in. Then UPS left some from another place at the same spot since Fed-ex was blocking his way.

Then it snowed that day before I got home, Was about a week later I found it. After Filling claims for lost shipment. Damn near did not report that I had found it just cause of how Stupid they are.

I'd be on the phone to Fedex customer service until I got some answers about where your ammo order is. Don't let it slide as it will happen to other customers as well! Call their 800 number and ask to speak to a supervisor!

I have never been asked for a signature by either UPS, or FedEx even when home.

They drop it on the porch and ring the doorbell.
By the time I get there, they are taking off down the road.

On the other hand I have never had an order go missing either.

My bet is the driver saw the shippers name, and the ORM-D stickers.
He probably knows what ammo is going for, and it conveniently vaporized.

This has been an ongoing situation as of late, many ammo orders have been stolen or pilfered.

Ditto, my experience exactly. And I also figured a knowledgeable driver probably stole it.

Did that and they said they will speak only to the shipper who has to file a claim for last or stolen items shipped.

Retailer said they are taking care of it........after some well worded and tactful pressure as a long time customer.

Lets see what happens by next week.

Thanks for the support and hope this helps others.

Ask them if they will talk to the ATF (not that they would actually get involved) since they are the "authority" on firearm related stuff.

Sooooo....FedEx is not interested in persuing the delivery driver who stole your ammo? Looks like that to me, at least with the info given. Driver said it was delivered, but it's not at your house.

I think I would report it stolen to the local law, just to get it on record.

You might also go to the FedEx office where the actual driver is based out of and talk to a supervisor just to advise him he has a driver who is at best dishonest and probably a thief.

Fed Ex office is sixty miles away so not driving there. If nothing resolved by next week will be reporting to PA State Police plus sending out a slew of emails to newspapers in the region and local TV stations about how Fed Ex lost 2K of dangerous assault weapon ammo[;)]...........then maybe there will be some results

Good idea. Also, since it was probably an INTERSTATE shipment, you can report it to the FBI and the BATFE. I like the idea of using the "assault weapon" ammo phobia against them. Who knows. Maybe this FedEx driver is amassing THOUSANDS of rounds of ammo in planning for a TERRORIST incident!! [:D] Get names!! Both at FedEx and at the federal LE offices. After you get their names, casually drop the bomb that you are cooperating with the press on checking to see how well they track down this "threat to national security"! [:D][:D] Then follow through and provide all of those details to the reporter. In addition to your local paper, don't forget some of the "Action News" news hounds at nearby TV stations. [:)]
Make such a big stink that FedEx can't just ignore it.
