I didn't want to hijack the other thread about the delays.
Did the ATF rule on Nv's ccw exemption for backround check. I know they did for those issued after July 1st 2011 but did they change it to all current Nv ccw's? Thanks ahead of time. The people on barf.com are saying it was denied.

Yep. About two weeks ago BATFE responded back to the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association request to drop that stupid 1 July 2011 requirement with a resounding, "NO". So, we still have the NICS exemption restored, but still only for permits dated on or after 1 July 2011. Sheriff Trotter of Churchill county told me this morning that the NSCA is appealing that decision through our senators, but not to hold my breath.

On the good side, most of the Sheriffs are no longer requiring your permit to be within 120 days of expiring before letting you renew. So, just this morning, I went in and renewed even though I still have 4 years left on mine. It cost me $65 to renew. But, at $25 per NICS check, I can guarantee I will save that and more over the next 4 years due to the number of guns I buy in a year. [:D]

I saw on your profile you are down in Clark County. You will need to check on that 120 day renewal limit down there. According to our sheriff, your sheriff was the one most strongly lobbying (unsuccessfully) other sheriffs to stick with a 120 limit. I hope that with the denial by BATFE of the waiver that he sees some common sense and lets those that want to, to go ahead and renew early to get a freshly dated permit. [:)] Unfortunately, he is under no legal requirement to do so. The sheriffs have a huge amount of discretion on how they run the CCW program in their own counties.
