The 700 Nitro Express...this thing is a beast...

A customer brought by a 700 Nitro round. Dennis Olson just built one and this old timer that comes into our shop pretty regularly is going to be shooting it. I don't know if I'd want to shoot this rifle...this 1000 grain bullet is bound to rattle your teeth. It's sitting next to a 50 BMG in these pics.

I wouldn't want to shoot it, but would be glad to watch someone else shoot it.

this will blow your mind. there is a guy in england that is making a revolver that shoots this round. he has already made several that shoots the .600 nitro, $20,000 each.

But that round is clearly for "magazine rifles"!!!!!

Looks like they have a lighter, jacketed soft point for smaller game like grizzlies or something.

I've seen pics of guys getting knocked on their * shooting those, as well as the 600Nitro. The guns weigh a ton, but still don't weigh enough...[B)]

That's cheaper than I've seen em. They run $60-$75 PER ROUND at the local antique arms show in Novi....

What's the point? Are there tanks running amok in that part of the country? Proving manhood by shooting a gun that will remove your testicles simply due to recoil doesn't make alot of sense to me![:D]

Interesting...I wonder what the difference is between the round I took a picture of and the the ammo Midway has for sale? Midway's has a straight walled case. The round I took a picture of has a very small shoulder bump...wonder if it's some kind of Improved case.?.?

It doesn't have a rebated rim either...something tells me that the round pictured is not an actual 700 Nitro Express.?.?

Not sure, I bet there might be a variant or two. But non the less, If anyone shoots "Dangerous African Game" with a 700 nitro, your practice session better be short sweet and perfect.[:D]

When I was 11 years old some s.o.b. tricked me into firing his .460 Nitro Express at the range, where I was popping off with my little .22.

Knocked me on my *, gave me a black eye with a cut over it. Dropped the gun on the concrete and busted the scope. He got booted off the shooting range.

My ears still ring to this day, over four full decades later.

A .700 Nitro Express?
