I certainly have trouble understanding the thinking of politicians and liberal commanders.

Does this men that the mud channel lovers can also wear a dress?

Story says they were denied on wanting to keep hair, beards and clothing aligned with their religions. Not allowed, denied, have to wear the same uniform and haircuts and shaven faces as everybody else. That's a good thing.

The push to allow greater freedom in such matters is coming from politicians. Some of it I understand, but they push too hard, too far.

Example would be Sikhs. Terrific tradition of military fighting spirit and ability to be found there. But in these times the hair and beard are a problem with modern threats, countermeasures and technology. We cannot have some troopers needing one type of Chemical Warfare gear, and others another type, merely to accommodate * hair. Nor long hair that has to be managed out of the way to fit under a standard issue helmet or headset.

It's terrific that people want to serve their country. Next thing they need to do is come to terms with that means. The military protects a democracy, but is not one itself. Nor should it be.
