USDA agricultural census program is a covert surveillance operation to compile government database of food and farm assets

Even if you do not believe you qualify as a farmer. You may be surprised to learn that a farm is defined as any place that produced and sold, or normally would have sold, $1,000 or more of agricultural products during the Census year. Many people who do not think of themselves as farmer actually meet the definition according to the Census. If you own horses, backyard chickens, large urban gardens, etc., you may qualify as a farmer.
Thus, by their own admission, even if you do not produce any food whatsoever, the mere act of living on a piece of land that COULD produce food makes you a farmer! If you have a "large urban garden" you must spy on yourself for the government!
If you refuse to fill out the form, the USDA will send government spies to your property to confront you in person. In their own words:
"For those who do not respond by April 5, NASS will begin following up by telephone and personal visits."

These proposed visits will not turn out well!
They've been doing them for years.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Here is a description of the CAUV purpose.
Current Agricultural Use Value or C.A.U.V. law is a differential real estate tax assessment program which affords owners of farmland the opportunity to have their parcels taxed according to their value in agriculture, rather than full market value.

I work for NASS and that is my job to go to the farm and face the operator. You'd be surprised at the number of people who cooperate when confronted by a warm body as opposed to a phone call or mailed survey. It takes some serious personal skills and self control to handle the various responses.
I've been verbally abused and have walked away from several of those types. I get paid to ask questions and expect honest answers given in a civil manner.
You'd might be surprised how many of those never get filled out.
They sent the form to my mom's house(farm) & I tossed it in the trash after she showed it to me.
That's been over a year ago.[^]

I do not object to to the Census as a basic duty of Citizenship. It is in the Constitution, why would I object to that?
I would argue quite a lot with the depth of questions being asked at times, but as they've never been asked of me it's never gotten that up front and in my face.
Every American should look forward to the every tenth year Census as a duty enshrined in the Constitution. If you do not like the details, well then raise heck with your Congressman and Senators well before that year arrives.
That's the way it's supposed to work, so do it.

Yep, I got one a few years ago, after I sold my cows. Pitched it in the trash and never heard from them again.
I now raise free range deer.[:D]
I have not been counted in a census since 1960. Have not received forms in the mail, no one has knocked on my door. Have not done a thing to avoid it, just the way life has played out.

I got one of the extended forms recently. It worked well as TP. A little coarser grit than the usual, but still worked.

Chris, this one is not the national census required in the Constitution, this one is strictly an Ag survey that is used to design the farm programs and get a handle on production and storage capabilitites.
I understand the reason, but I object to the idea of being singled out.

Ah, well okay then [:D]
Is it mandated by some programs that farmers receive money or "subsidies" of any kind for participating in? If so then OOPS!
If they are bugging farmers or non-farmers with land about this stuff, with no basis of law to do anything beyond say "Pretty Please Talk To Us?", then do as you like and more power to you.
