Did shipping charges shoot up or something?

Last case of 500 rounds of .223 I bought was just earlier this year. Cost $14 UPS Ground from the northeast all the way to Phoenix.

So is $50 reasonable from Maine?

Seems quite stiff. Also, is that some reloaded crap? Military brass with soft point bullets?

Higher priced gas might have caused higher priced shipping.

Shouldn't be that bad. Inputs might be higher but not that much.

Those folks make a LOT of their profit from the shipping cost.

They advertise a gob of ammo but sell very little for a good reason.

I was wondering that too. Got caught up in the WTH? factor of the $50 to ship!

Never stops surprising me that some sellers can't figure it out. You try to make a profit on your shipping charge it limits what people can bid for your item. A lot of times I see shipping pushing the total above what it would be for local retail purchase.

I mean I can buy all the 5.56mm NATO (Federal usually) around here for $7.63 a box after tax. I can get it online even cheaper. So why would I pay $8 a box for stuff that looks a bit peculiar?

Unless it is a private seller.

I sold a case on M75 sniper ammo (8MM 900 rounds) and the shipping to me from Wideners was $23.00 and change. When I sold it to a friend my cost was over $50.00 so it seems retail customers that ship a lot get a better price.

If this was a commercial shipper then it was a rip off.

One thing I do is make it easy on the seller. I have them ship ammo not to my home but to the local UPS Customer Center "HOLD FOR PICK UP". UPS likes it, and there's no added charge for residential delivery.

Important thing is to get the seller to email you the tracking number. Sometimes UPS messes up and does not call you on a pick up like they say they will. With the tracking number in hand you don't have to worry about it.
