Elbow pain, causing loss of use of arm

I did something to me elbow and I don't know what I did. The pain starts if I try to straighten my arm, like reaching for something. It also hurts like hell when Inflex my hand, try to make a fist or even pick something up. I cannot even pick up a small bottle of tea from my cupholder, even reaching up to click on the domelight hurts. Shifting the truck, as long as I palm the shifter and do not grab it I can shift it but the splitter button on the side is getting harder to flip. When I parked a little bit ago I had trouble pulling the brake button, had to reach over with my left hand to set the brakes. Doing a walkaround on the truck, holding and aiming the flashlight is near impossible!

What in the heck is going on here?? The pain is getting terrible and if it keeps getting worse I won't be able to drive the truck [V]

Do a search on Google Maps for an Urgent Care place. At least get a quick look at it. Lots of pain troubles with elbows are overuse injuries they can do something about. You won't know unless you see a doctor.

    Good Luck.

by chance, would you have any tightness in your neck/shoulder spine area? a chiro visit to take the kinks out helped me tremendously when i was having similar arm strength problems.

Sure you can. Just gotta do.

Back in the 60's I rode from Charleston WV to Atlanta on an overnight furniture run in an old Mack with a ONE ARMED driver! Watching him shift gears was an experience.
Back then 52 was the route, (I don't believe they allow truck traffic downhill now, even with the 'improved' 2 lane)
by the time we hit the straight stretch on the south side of fancy gap I was a believer!
Slept all the way back. [^]

    Most likely a pinched nerve.

Classic Tennis elbow Pain pills will hide the pain but do nothing to cure problem same with Tennis elbow CUFF . Never use cordazone "SPELLING" that destroys parts of your body. You need to work on the Inflammation My wife convinced me after about a year of trying everything. she is an RN but I was too stubborn to listen to her [:0]
I started on naproxen twice a day. after 5 weeks no change [:(]
after 6 weeks No elbow pain what so ever.AGAIN She told me it would take time . Problem never returned
. I injured my elbow using a Brush Blade on a Weed Eater trying to clear area with one inch diameter trees that was 25 years ago never
    had problem reoccurred

Sounds like a pinched nerve in you arm maybe in your wrist area.
You probably cannot even button your shirt buttons from what you wrote.

Test your fingers in the bad arm to see if they have any strength. Then test the thumb. Your thumb will likely be stronger since there are different nerves in your thumb.

Sounds like tendonitis which can be very painful. Have you bumped your elbow recently? Sometimes it can also stem from a repetitive stress activity.

I had it a while back in my left elbow. Hurts like a son of a gun, and unfortunately it takes forever to heal. At least it did for me.

Try this as a test; take a belt and tie it snugly around middle of your your forearm. (not so tight to cut off circulation) Does the pain go away somewhat? If so, it's likely tendonitis. If this helps, go to your nearest grocery store / sporting store and get a tendonitis brace. It is a velcro strap which goes around your forearm. They help tremendously while it heals.

There's a lady at work who wears one of these all the time:

    Here's another type:

And another that adds a pressure pad:

had similar last winter, felt like a good hit on the funny bone that wouldn't go away, it got worse crept up to my bicep then shoulder over the course of a few weeks, mine was a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade, about 4-5 inches to the left of my spine

ice pack a few muscle relaxers and ibuprofen took care of it

I believe it was caused from sleeping in the wrong position, my elbow I believe was extended to wear it was slightly allowed to extend past it fully locked strait position during sleep {if I described that correctly} picture an acl knee injury
