Bridgework...Ow!

Actually, the bridge isn't the problem. The problem is the extraction. A tooth that another dentist, Drew Barrett, ruined back in 1981, finally broke and was not repairable. The teeth fore and aft of it needed crowns anyway, so a bridge was the best option. I wasn't counting on it hurting this badly though, and no one prescribes decent pain meds anymore.

I am. I'm just not going around people, because I am a little cranky.

I have had several put in(bridges)and none were fun,but I think the worse was my wisdom teeth extraction, with only novocain for the pain, two at a time, then a dry socket...Awwwwwwwwwwwwww[:o)]

Had all four wisdom teeth puled at the same time in the Navy due to being in Sub service.
That really wasn't an issue I was young.

I've had four root canals, five extractions, five crowns those aren't so bad.

The worst so far was gum surgery and grafts
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I have had the gum surgery, where they split the gum and scrape the roots, then sew you back up....a complete waste of time and money...never have that done, its justa another way for todays Dentist to "extract" money from your walletDo not let them talk you into a "deep" clean! If you have bleeding gums...mix half scope and half peroxide in a bottle, and then swish around in your mouth before brushing...doesn't take long to rid mouth of chanker sores etc...

Sympathize completely. Been that, done there ... maybe too late now but for future reference to any about to see Dr. DiceNslice - -

Percocet and Percogesic together were the ticket to sleeping through the dental excavations of root canals, bone graphs, repairing car accident damage. They key was to start taking the pain killers before the local injections wore off.

The idea is to get control and keep control, or it's hell to get control back. Keep yourself zonked for 24 hours, starting the instant your butt hits the car seat for the ride home, while the local injections still have you numb. Do not wait to feel pain before topping off the meds, take them on a schedule. For me that was more frequent than prescription said, about twice as often at first.

He couldn't do his job if given narcotics.
It's illegal to drive while on pain killers.

Wouldn't expect anyone to drive or try to work at such a time. Couldn't do my job or drive either after that. Scheduled the work for a Friday morning, got driven there and home by a friend. By Monday morning was fine for work, maybe just some Tylenol.
