Rifle S/N Question

Yesterday I purchased a Husqvarna rifle for a project on which I intend to have the barrel replaced. Well, the S/N is stamped on the barrel, not the reciever. I suppose I have the gunsmith transfer the number to the new barrel, aye?

Clearly those people in Sweden are not operating under US rules.[8D]

I would have your smith add a pre-fix and sub-fix letter to that number.
IF the old barrel is used elsewhere, you may end up with two guns listed with the same number.
Do you really need the serial number???? Many guns don't have them.
As far as the feds, the receiver is the gun, not the barrel.

I would not worry about it. Lots of guns don't have a SN on them. The SN is supposed to be on the receiver as stated before, if its not there don't worry about it.

I would not worry about selling the barrel either.

It is a federal offense to be in the possession of a firearm that has had the serial number defaced or removed.

The ATF should hurry over there and arrest Sweden before someone gets hurt.

But not the Swedish Bikini Team, they have proved themselves trustworthy.
