    And, dead center, it says "Certificate of Live Birth." Which, as I understand it, isn't quite the same as a Birth Certificate.

    Am I right? Somebody help me here!

    No. The one that wasn't useful for proving status was the Certification of Live Birth, that the state could issue for foreign births. This one has other problems.
