Too bad we can't eat anything in this country! [B)]

ractopamine- "The substance is used to increase an animal?s muscle mass and if consumed by humans it can lead to obesity, heart conditions, insomnia, headaches and spasms. However, it is still used in more than 45% of pigs, 30% of cattle, and even in turkeys in the US. About 20% of the in the animals remains in the meat sold at the supermarket".

Roxarsone- Arsenic used to make chickens pinker? Apparently stopped? ?Arsenic has been linked to bladder, lung, skin, kidney and colon cancer, while low-level exposures can lead to partial paralysis and diabetes.? Wonder why more Diabetics?

"Canthaxanthin and astaxanthin are the petrochemicals used to color our fish so it looks pretty and we buy it. This is nothing new, similar color additives are used on many of the fruits, vegetables, and food that we buy everyday. To be fair, the FDA says these petroleum based color additives are fine for human consumption"

"The dough of hamburger and hot dog buns are often bleached and made more elastic by having potassium bromate added to them. However, potassium bromate is linked to many health conditions, including kidney and nervous system damage, thyroid problems, gastrointestinal discomfort and cancer."

"Foods like boxed pasta mixes, breads, frozen dinners, and packaged baked goods contain the chemical azodicarbonamide which is added as an instant bleaching agent for flour. "
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

    Stay away from processed foods
I love Marie Calendar, but once a month is all I'll do.

I make stuff from scratch except for biscuits.

Read labels. Texas Pete is now a GMO product.

My French toast and cinnamon toast is the real deal just like granny used to make.

the additives in commercial bread will make you want to make it yourself, besides preservatives they add chemical dough conditioners, flavorings, they add vitamins and people think its a good thing, but its not because they removed them by bleaching and chemically processing the flour

    partial list

    Fructose corn syrup

    Vegetable oil

    Ammonium sulfate

    Monocalcium phosphate

    L-ascorbic acid

    Chlorine dioxide

    L-cysteine hydrochloride

Emulsifiers: including ? diglycerides of fatty acids, sodium strearoyl-2-lactylate, and glycerol mono-stearate.

Quit eating processed foods in cans on a regular basis 15 years ago.

Home raised chickens and rabbits, amounts to half my meat. The remainder is purchased from butcher shops.

Almost zero sugar, cooking oil, soda drinks and no more coffee, decaf only.

No "white" bread, wheat only. Should make bread, maybe someday.

"ractopamine- "The substance is used to increase an animal?s muscle mass and if consumed by humans it can lead to obesity, heart conditions, insomnia, headaches and spasms."

It can lead to obesity?????? This comment makes me wonder why body builders would be using the stuff.
The major contributor to obesity is eating more calories than you burn.
By picking certain data with skewed statistics, it can be proven that drinking water causes all sorts of problems so quoting numbers w/o proper context is just blowing wind.

    I have raised no Beef.

I guess you have heard of it now? True or false effects of that stuff
I just wish the Beef ate grass like they were designed to do and didn't go to "feed lots" for fattening on ANY chemical, Hormone, Steroid, or Anti bio diet.

It would be nice if our livestock were raised, fed, and finished naturally.

Perhaps that is a naive desire.

"I guess you have heard of it now?"

GOOGLED the name and read about 15 pages of what it is and what it does, so yes, I have heard of it NOW. FWIW, I don't think the use and/or residual effects are nearly as dramatic or widespread as your headline projected it to be.

"It would be nice if our livestock were raised, fed, and finished naturally."

Are you going to be the one who tells XX% of the population that they don't get to eat ANY meat this week?

Eat what you want. Yes processed food is bad...

Do not smoke or inhale toxins to your lungs or breathing apparatus.

Watch how much carbon you eat in your grilled food.
