More proof renting a house is not the best option.

I get that a minimum amount is needed to afford rent. Problem with this is those that believe minimum wage should be equal to that amount or higher. Minimum wage should not be the goal of anyone for a living.
But it is the myopic idea of libtards.

In Seattle it's enough to ensure that there are no "elderly" and damn few "middle income" workers living anywhere near the central part of town...if you could find a place to rent ! It SUCKS here !!!

30% for rent leaves 70% for food, transportation and medical. Since Uncle Sam has capped medical cost to the low earners at around 10-12% that leaves at least 50% for food and saving :)

More realistic to have 40-50% towards cost of shelter
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

A lot of this cost is directly related to property taxes. Property tax is about 1/2 as much in Idaho as Oregon. Go look. My property tax in Baker is $250.00 pr. Mo. The same house in Idaho. 80 miles from here would be about $50.00 to $100.00 pr mo. It's all in the way the state handles it's money. Idaho is a Republican state. Oregon is Socialist.

My older brother rented a house in my hometown in Michigan for 30 years.

I used to rib him that after all these years he would have owned it!

He always just laughed at me and said that his landlord appreciated his loyalty and kept his rent to a minimum.

Death and taxes guaranteed. With property tax burdens we are all renting...
