Worn out Ruger MKII

Poor little thing was made in 1981 and we bought it used in 2007. It was a working gun in our rental cabinet for years before moving into our ladies night bag o guns. One of my guys used it in a class this morning and brought it to me to check out.
The barrel rocks back and forth in the frame enough to make one seasick. I need to shim it but I don't have any shim stock here. Most of the finish is worn off the front and back grip straps. There was so much un-burned powder, brass, and carbon that it took me almost an hour of brushing and spraying to get it clean. Of course I cleaned the mag as well. I am surprised how many folks never clean mags.[:0]
I think it's pretty cool this old pistola with God only knows how many rounds fired and very little maintenance still runs great. The Rugers get a bad rap for being difficult to reassemble but it's really a breeze once you learn the proper way.

I agree they are great pistols, and I have owned a couple myself (currently have just my S&W 41 & wife's 422). Seems this one has served you well. Also agree they are not as difficult to assemble as some will insist.

Send it back for warranty repair - say it's having accuracy issues and that the bbl is wobbly...

The worst that can happen is they say no and send it back...

I would be interested in how they respond.

    I agree.

    But, but, but............,.......

    Is it SHINY??

Inquiring minds (and me,) want to know.

Just give it a little "Brown water based protective coating," and it will/should be fine.

If it was a Browning Buckmark, it'd be fine. [:0][:D][}:)]

Rikki I'm totally with you on Ruger's. Are they the best handgun to shoot?? I don't think so but if I have to pick a handgun to carry if I think I might actually have to use it, a Ruger will be in my hand. Why?? It goes bang when I pull the trigger and shoots what I have the sights on.

Ruger will re-barrel that pistol, and most likely there will be no charge. As you know Ruger customer service is second to none![:)]

You know that's probably true but I don't really feel right about asking Ruger to pay to fix a product that performed so well. It just doesn't seem fair.[:(]
But I will give it some thought and perhaps I can stoop to the same low level as the rest of you guys.[:D][}:)][:o)]

I didn't think you could wear a MK II out.

    +1

They may want to look it over to see how it performed.

See what they say it cannot hurt.
