Looking to update the scope on my ar-50, found a vortex viper 6-24x50 pst ffp, local, he's asking 800

Right now I have a leapold xv II 6-18x50?

Should I change, or just leave well of nuff alone

I may get trashed for this but I was not all that impressed with Vortex over any others I have bought and found Nikon or Burris still my preferred optics dollar for dollar in value.

I think I would leave well enough alone.

If you really want an upgrade look at a Nightforce but be ready for some sticker shock[:0] They are built like a tank and are SHTF steady.

These are nice and priced about right: Valdada IOR Long Range Tactical Rifle Scope about on par with a Leupold

US Optics are super nice as good as the Nightforce with more options but they are very spendy.

I would stay away from the Vortrex on a 50 cal. They make a nice scope for the money but as said before I would rather have a Burris for about the same price.

The way I look at scopes is they should cost about what the rifle did or at least 2/3's the price. You can have the most accurate rifle in the world but if it has a crappy scope on it you will never see its full potential.
