Does Nascar promote parity because it believes it makes for more competitive racing or is Nascar's desire to increase corporate exposure to be "fair" and get as much TV time for all sponsors?

I guess it makes sense that their desire for parity is driven more by Nascar profits and sponsor exposure time even if it means a less competitive race.

NASCAR puts limits on Cup drivers in other series

NASCAR announced Wednesday rules that will limit how many Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series races full-time Sprint Cup drivers can race in 2017.

NASCAR stated that Sprint Cup drivers with more than five years of full-time experience can compete in a maximum 10 Xfinity and seven Camping World Truck Series races beginning next year.

NASCAR also stated that Sprint Cup drivers with more than five years of full-time experience will be prohibited from competing in the final eight races in both the Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series - when the regular-season finale and Chase are held for each of those series.

Sprint Cup drivers with more than five years of full-time experience also will not be allowed to participate in any Xfinity Dash for Cash races.

Also, drivers earning points in the Sprint Cup Series in 2017 also are not eligible to compete in the Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series finales at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"The updated guidelines will elevate the stature of our future stars, while also providing them the opportunity to compete against the best in professional motorsports," said Jim Cassidy, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations, in a statement. "These updated guidelines are the result of a collaborative effort involving the entire industry, and will ultimately better showcase the emerging stars of NASCAR."

Drivers with more than five years of full-time experience in Cup can still run for the Xfinity or Camping World Truck Series championship provided they have declared they are racing for points in either of those series. Drivers are allowed to declare they are racing for points in one series only.

I was curious as to how many NASCAR fans we have here.
Who is a NASCAR fan and if so, who is your favorite drivers or drivers?

Terry Labonte has been my favorite driver for over 20 years, but now that he is finishing his career and running a final and limited schedule this year, I will also root for Brian Vickers.
I also like all of the Hendrick drivers.

Why does one driver dominate for a few years then disappear to the back row? I remember Bill Elliot, then Jeff Gordon came along. Now they never win. I can understand Richard Petty. He just got too old. Looks like we have some new blood in the game now.

Needs to put another seat in the cars so the officials can ride along to see if anything is wrong. What a load of horse manure they have now created. Rubbing is Racin'...

Sure gets a lot of attention for a sport that seems to amount to a bunch of guys running around a track in mythical "stock" cars all while trying to avoid getting creamed by the one token female that they only permit on the track because they collectively want to pork her. That is... in my opinion.

You know, if Brian France had said "We at NASCAR provide an opportunity for 43 teams to put out the safest car at the finish of the race. That is the purpose of NASCAR and America , to give everyone a fair opportunity to go be the best. We do not discrimite. We do not enter in political debates."

    People would have understood.

I think the NASCAR fans at Daytona showed Brian how they fell about his PC flag crap. He would have been better of keeping his pie hole shut. The sad thing is at the end of the day he is still counting their money into his pocket[V]............but not mine[:(!]
