Vet Tech wife says don't give animals any Human pain meds.
tyelenol is a no no. Things like benadryl and IB prufen are can be ok, but seek vet advice first.
But sorry for the loss. I always sit there and look at my dog and think this can not last forever and hes only 5. and makes you ask yourself why do you keep getting more.

I was also just recently told ibuprofen was bad for dogs. Acetomenofen (Advil) was okay, but only short-term.
IF, and that is a big IF... it's ok you first need to understand the problem. "Moving slow" is not really a diagnosis. After a week of pills dog is dead? Might have been the cause. I hate to point out the obvious but I think there is a long list of folks here who did not even raise an eye brow who need to understand it probably won't be a good idea for their dogs either.
coming up on the one year anniversary of losing my dog and it's still very hard to think about. Sorry for your loss Dave.

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

Advil is ibuprofen.
Tylenol is acetominophen.
ETA: BOTH are not good for dogs.
Aspirin in the CORRECT dosage is acceptable.
Don't try and treat your own animals unless you know what you are doing.
Daves dog probably died from kidney failure.
Yup. Can give aspirin for a short time if your dog's stomach will tolerate it, but not ibuprofen or tylenol (very bad).

But what I was thinking was aspirin was ok, and I know benadryl is fine. But Ibuprofen is very bad for a dog, and your basically killing it. A lot of pet medication is the same as humans but a lot isnt, the different often times for the same thing is dosing.
Ibuprofen for your practical knowledge includes drugs like Advil and motrin, all are the same thing.
acetaminophen is another class of drug which brand name is tyelenol and the other 500 pain releif drugs you can find.
Then there is Aspirin such as Bayer.
They are all pain killers but work differently. Aspirin and ibuprofen are almost the same but aspirin tends to not let your blood thin out as bad, thats why aspirin is given to heart attack paitents. Both of these work on the principle of anti inflamation, which means they block certain signals for pain.
acetaminophen they really do not know how it works to be honest.
Ibuprofen can create problems with your stomach and liver and also operate on a steroid level almost, so is a much rougher drug to take then say tyelenol. I have always used tyelenol for headaches small aches and pain, and IB for muscle aches and major pain but limit the intake. One not for tylenol do not take while drinking it create liver failure.
Many people are confused on tyelenol, Ibuprofen, Motrin, etc. sometimes they think they are all different things in which they werent.
Sorry to hear about your dog, Dave. I hate it when I loose one of my fur-buddys I am all messed up for days.
The more I am around people the more I like my dogs.
As far as medication for dogs, you can give them real aspirin and it is recommended you give them the low dose coated aspirin like for kids. You can also give your dog Benadryl.
