It was a clear, sunny warm afternoon, when my bestest friend became my wife.
She is still my bestest friend, so we are going to try for another 31 years.
I was never going to marry. Had me a good dog, a good truck, my guns and my books. At 28 years old, had given up on finding a gal who could be trusted. Then one day at church, there was this gal with the most beatiful green eyes and a smile that made my heart jump.
I believe that God planned this all out. Over the next 2 weeks, run into here again at church, at the library and found out that one of her sisters worked at the same place I did. Saw her at the libary and asked her if she wanted go and get a cup of coffee. She said no. OK, now what do I do? What seems like an hour, only a few seconds, she told me she didn't like coffee but would like a hot chocolate. OK............ a week later took her out for a movie and dinner. For the next few months, we would just kind of did movies, dinner, the farm was still a working dairy farm and I was helping my grandparents. Would call her up and tell her that I had to haul hay or something and did she want to ride along and just hang out. She would. She liked the outdoors, horses, dogs AND guns. She was 24 and didn't believe that guys could be trusted. Then one day, I knew that she was the BESTEST person in the world and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. Bought a ring. Carried it in my pocket for almost 2 months, scaried to ask the question. One evening after having dinner with some friends of mine, I pulled the ring out of my pocket and she said YES.
God blessed me with her. She has been at my side when there were bad times. She never blinked. She has sand in her bottom and will do to ride the river with. She gave me 2 sons. Helped keep things going when times were tight. She still has those green eys and that smile...............

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!
But it's funny to think about it that marriage is for life, the same sentence as first degree murder [:D] So in your honor, a joke for you:
There was a couple married for 30 years and on the 30th anniversary the wife saw the husband crying and she told him "honey i never knew that after 30 years you would still love me the same way you did 30 years ago".
The husband looks at the wife and asks her "honey, do you remember 30 years ago when your father caught us behind the barn naked?"
And the wife says yes, the man replies do you remember what your father told me that day?
She replies no.
The husband replies he told me that if I don't marry you he would have me locked up in prison for 30 years.
The wife looks at the husband and says "and?"
So the husband replies "Today I would have been a free man."
Nothing is sweeter than "True Love and Home Grown Tomato's!"[:)]
31 years ago today my mother was preparing for my first birthday party[:p][:D]!
You youngster. I was three at the time.[:D]
Congrats Pinshooter! Hope you get another 31+ years!!![:)]
It's been 43 years for us.
Picking (or getting picked by [:D] ) the right lady the first time sure makes it easier[8D]
My wife and I just celebrated our 63rd anniversary in May. We met in the 9th grade...dated a few times through high school, nothing serious...went in the Navy after graduation...came home on leave and we apparently saw each other in a different light, then I chased her for a couple of years, 'till she caught me...[:D]
We have been tremendously blessed with a wonderful family ? 2 daughters, 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, 6 great-grandsons and 3 great granddaughters...
