as a citizen police officer?

I guess they're conducting training in Lynwood, WA for it in the upcoming weeks.

All I can picture is dano saying "when do we get guns?", for some reason.
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

At one time PDs around my area had them but they have discontinued the practice. Most likely due to liability and training expense. Some of the Local Sheriff's Officers have some but they are usually retired Cops, or Cops that have moved on to other careers but wish to maintain their Law Enforcement Certification.

My grandfather did that back in a small town called brookfield, it was in upstate newyork, about 45 min. away from utica.

He took the oath, and then kept the badge at his house...whenever need be, the sheriff would call him and tell him that he was actively deputized for a certain period of time or to perform a certain task. Often times this was to take care of rural dog packs that would occasionaly form and threaten livestock (mostly dairy cows) or game animals. When he was done with his duty, then the sheirff would let him know he could take his badge off until needed again.
