its a 22 training model that looks and acts just like the ar platform they sell

Well it is an AR shaped .22 and that is the nicest thing I can say about it.

Sorry best pic I could find.

It is all molded plastic and kinda funny looking if you ask me. I am sure it has some good points but for less then $100 more you can get a real dedicated .22 upper for the AR you have now.

Here is a link with info on this gun, http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/01/20/sw-mp15-22-a-22-lr-tactical-rifle/

Well it is a .22 rifle but has 100% interchangability with all Mil Spec parts.

Well I know for a fact that at least one part that will not work, trigger guard. Also I am assuming they had to do something to the lower so some idiot does not put a centerfire upper on it.

Also from this pic it maybe questionable what other parts interchange:

    DSC00632.JPG

Here is a gun that is truly interchangeable with mil spec parts. The only "non-mil spec style" parts are the barrel, Bolt group and mag. If one so desired you could pull this barrel and add any AR-15 bolt and barrel combo safely. Keep in mind any AR is not mil spec in the fist place as the military does not spec out a semi auto gun.

While I am sure there will be a ton of these sold based on price and the S&W name it is really only an AR in spirit. The big thing that will make this appealing to people is the $500 price tag which is cheeper then most "real" dedicated uppers, but not by much and about 2/3 the price of doing a complete dedicated "real" AR in .22.

My wife worked Part Time in ER when not an L&D nurse. She said you would not believe what some people tried to stick up their butts. So. I am sure there will be lotsa idiots trying to stick 30 round M-16 mags in these new Smith M&Ps[:0]

Guys, instead of focusing on what might be wrong with this rifle, lets see what's right.
    1. Charging handle works as it should
    2. Bolt locks back after the last shot, as it should
    3. Bolt release works, as it should
    4. Doesn't need a different trigger gaurd, has the proper one already
    5. Accepts Milspec lower components including trigger groups, a.i.s.
    6. Sights are spot-on and accept apertures
    7. Accepts aftermarket stocks on it's buffer tube, as it should
    8. Is priced at least $100 below the Colt, which does none of the above.
    9. Does not require you to remove a lower from your other AR's
    10. Is an absolute BLAST to shoot!
    11. Is ultra reliable, mine feeds EVERYTHING
    12. Is accurate, very
    13. Additional mags are $20, direct fromt the maker, I bought 3 already
The list could go on, but I'm tired of typing, lol

I bought the first of these I saw and will buy more.

Friend got one at Cabelas $549. He is not happy with it mostly cause in his words it is a plastic POS. Has had all kinds of problems with it. I shot it and it was ok. I told him what did you expect from a wannabe AR. [B)]

my neighboor tried one. it jammed about 3 times per mag. with ccis we cut it down to 1 jam per mag. sent it back.
came back more reliable, but accuracy was still about 4" at 50 yds (we tried multiple optics)
    sorry

it is now on the used rack at the gunstore

    good luck

The only issue I have is that it is very tricky to load. One bullet in the wrong position will jam the gun. Other than that it's as good as my Ruger 10/22s

The easiest way to find out is to go to the nearest gun shop that carries them. What city are you located in?

Thanks for the reply.... I'm Located in NY. I found out that the model i was interested in might not be legal here- this might be why I have only seen the Model here with a smooth barrel- not with the Basket on the end.
