sell a back order?

Ive got a back order of 30 pmags with Brownells for about $13 each.
In the time Ive been waiting Ive been buying a few here and there.
Im at the point that I have more than enough mags, yes I know there really is no such thing as enough when it comes to guns, ammo, and mags.

I was thinking about canceling the order or selling the backorder on the auction side.

It would be something like $380 for 30 pmags sent to the buyer when I get them. The ammount you bid will be to buy my spot on the backorder list, plus $380 for the mags.

My wife is pushing me to kill the order for three reasons. We are moving in a week and the extra $380 would help. Waiting on Brownells to charge the account is the only thing keeping us from closing that account. And, being a woman, she dont get it.

Would you sell the back order or not bother with it?

    Can't price your future interest.
So I'd have no idea what it would be worth.
Had cabellas cancel a back order out of the blue on me once.

I'd wait on them to come in and once in hand, then decide. Maybe you will still make some money re-selling, maybe not.

I'd just cancel the order, you don't need them, the order is messing up your moving plans, and the idea of trying to make money on things you don't have sounds like a whole lot more trouble than it would be worth.
Besides, I just checked and you can backorder pmags from DSG for $12.95 ea., so why would anyone spend more to mess around with what you are trying to do?

i personally wouldnt be a part of a sale like that. theres no telling when fulfillment will happen, or that it will happen at all. they could very well cancel the order for you and then im left in a lurch hoping you'll send me my money back. you can be damn sure that if i were to play this kind of game, the up front money you would get from me would be a fraction of the total. you could have it all before you shipped of course, but only after you have the items in hand.

also, i doubt gb would allow it. how can they calculate their end on a deal where you're only bidding on the down payment when the bulk of the money is handled off the books? there doesnt seem to be a way to make sure everybody gets paid here.

i would cancel the order and move on. if money is tight enough that 4 sticks is going to make or break your move, then you really cant afford to speculate on magazines right now. i dont mean that to be offensive. its just a statement of fact. if your budget is that tight, then you dont have room for extras right now. no shame in that. if someone offered me 50 registered m16's right now for 5 grand, i'd have to pass. i just dont have the money....

+1 I actually believe this should be a requirement on the auction side.

Do you have some kind of emotional issues? I mean, what are you talking about?

With regards to Brownells' BO's, who knows what's going to happen? At this time, they have shipped one of mine, but I still have two outstanding.

To me, it is UNREAL that you'd try to sell your place in the BO schedule. Not only that but, if I read things right, you want $380.00 to boot? You want the money before you have the product in hand? No offense but, if you're having some type of financial issues, whereby, you need some money, desperately, I wouldn't put it past a feller to steal that money from forum-friends. I know, you've been here since 2008, but it really doesn't matter, if you're desperate.

This whole thing makes my stomach turn.

Now, as far as the credit card thing, the card I had on file was cancelled and reissued. I had some fraud, and by the time Brownells was going to ship, my card was dead. They called me --- I missed the call --- but I called them as soon as I could, and gave them a new number --- shipped, they were.

What the hell are you smoking?

Im not broke, the money could be used on something else, other than something I already have.
I was selling my spot on the BO list for whatever ammout was bid, the $380 is the cost of the mags. But with GB not able to make their % on the $380 then it would not work.
And there are many pre orders on GB, just like the forum member that was selling GSG 5s that he didnt have. Everyone that bought a gun that he didnt have was happy. Except the naysayers.

And I think the other guy is talking about the AR in my sig line, thanks btw.

A bunch of good advice here.

I vote to cancel the order. You will be fine and you don't need those mags.

    What am I smoking? I don't know/something a lot less potent than you're smokin'. [;)]

I don't know if you're broke, but I find your OP alarming, that's all. I think you have a lot of nerve to ask people to pay for something that you might not ever get.

Talked about the CC... Here, this is really weird: quote:My wife is pushing me to kill the order for three reasons. We are moving in a week and the extra $380 would help. Waiting on Brownells to charge the account is the only thing keeping us from closing that account. And, being a woman, she dont get it.

I mean, close the darn account, and terminate the BO. And yes, somebody that's in a position, whereby, $380.00 is a significant sum money --- yeah, you're not in the best shape, financially speaking.

Truthfully, though, I don't think you're up to something dishonest, but, you just never know. Folks get into situations where they're desperate. Are you there? I don't think so. But, in all honesty, giving you $380+, lies way outside my comfort zone.

I know nothing bad about you. Additionally, I think I'm looking at somebody that will do exactly what he says he's going to do. However, there are no saints in this forum.

    And that's it.

On the other hand, you have five fingers and a damn awesome gun!

Magazines may be the target of the anti 2nd crowd, along with ridiculous background checks. It may be wise to take any advantage right now.

PS- Oso: I think he was asking the question to toney1 about where the "awesome gun" comment came from.

There is ZERO reason to try and broker the order. First reason is Brownells will NEVER ship to another address. Which means even when the order is filled, you still have to receive them and then turn around and ship them.

They are not going to change the address just so you can make money on their low priced product.

Also, why interfere with your daily life over some mags if you have enough? Cancel the order and move on. At this point, if you haven't gotten them, you aren't going to get them while they are worth anything.

I can't imagine anyone saying, yeah I'll give you money for something you don't own. What a mess that is!

Cancle and walk away. Live your life, stop worrying over mags that will be knee deep in a months time.

I have signatures turned off, so that's "probably" why his post went right over my head.

I have them turned off because I can't stand nemesisenforcer's signature.

Briefly, I'll turn them on, so I can see what you guys are talking about. But, it would be nice if someone dealt with that signature, once and for all. Can I be a mod for a day? [:D]

Anyway, I've offered far too much of my bad advice, and piss-poor opinions, today. So, it's back to my cave, I go. [:p]
