It's always the Wednesday in the week of your birth date. This month, if your birthday is the 22nd to the 28th, you got your SS yesterday.

    Because today is Thursday, dd.

I can only hope that those of us who are close will not get screwed with.

I made financial plans based on being allowed to retire with reduced benefits at 62. I am 59 this year I can't go back and change the things I did to prepare for retirement at 62.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Trying to decide when to start it up...Not needing it very much, but also not thinking I will live a lot longer, @age 65. Full benefits begin at age 66 for me...

I got mine yesterday, too. Small increase but also a higher Medicare premium for the same amount so my check was the same as last month.

My wife has a member of her family that never worked a day in their life that draws a check from the government that's almost as much as my wife's social security check that she worked for all of her adult life. That's a subject best not touched on in my wife's presents. [B)] [:D]

My "increase" was more than offset by my Moldycare payment (which carries a 100% penalty for income adjustment) and so my net check is $20 less than last year.

If I depended on it, that would be cause for concern. Then again, if I depended on it I wouldn't have that "income adjustment."

I took mine at 62, when I really could use it. I used it to pay off all my outstanding bills. An extra grand a month pays a lot of extra bills. I also calculated that the difference between what I got at 62 versus what I'd get at 65. I wouldn't make up the $36,000 or so that I'd "lose" by waiting until 65 until I turned 72 and a bit. Not worth the wait for me. Your situation may be different.

I won't get my SS money until I turn 70 this spring. Being a cheapskate, I've been holding off to grab the 8% annual increase each year beyond 66. Then, I'll just have to live to something like 82 to break even compared with taking SS earlier.[;)]

    De nada.
    I am glad to help.
Though I am 66 I am still working, making $65K this year driving the big rig. I am dumping lots of cash into the Social Security system I am glad you enjoy it.
