Kids Playing Outside

When was the last time you saw a group of kids outside playing. I was born in 1965 in a small farming town of about 3,000.

Everyday after school we played some kind of sports. During the summer we would play sports all day or walk 5 miles to go fishing and then 5 back.

When we played sports we would have 15 to 20 kids around. Now you will not see 3 kids playing anything outside.[:(][:(]

    I never see kids outside.

I live in the country but when I go to town I pass plenty of suburban neighborhoods and I never see any kids.

My wifes sister lives not too far away and she has 2 kids. The both are driving now but 7-8 years ago they never went outside.

They would come to my house and do work or shoot their 22's I got them and that was the only time they went out.

    I blame:

Video games and smart phones. Text messages and tweeting.

I also blame parents doing the easy wrong and handing the kid a "device" to keep them occupied.

I see family's in restaurants and they are all on their phones while they are eating[:(]

Part is cause of Video Games. But part is Parents afraid to let their kids out.

Most of the kids on my bus route don't even know the kid who lives next door. However, there is one neighborhood where all the kids play outside. Q

Neighborhood parks have gun by the wayside. Nobody uses them so they are sold off. We had a group of 10-15 and always had some kind of game going. Baseball, football, hockey, soccer almost every day.

Just the other night when some of the hooligans from across the street came and rang my doorbell at 10:30PM. Shortly thereafter we heard the Catholic Church bell ringing. (It's on the next block over.)
