Credit Fraud :(

Anyone ever have any trouble with credit fraud or ID theft?

My wife & I both got phones calls back to back last Friday while eating out. We let them go to voicemail because it was a number niether of us reconized. When we got done with dinner I checked my voicemail on the way to the car. It was Capitol One saying someone had tried to open a CC w/ my SS #. They left the same message on my wifes phone too.

I don't know how the heck they knew my cell # to call or my wifes cell # to call her in my stead? I called Capitol 1 asked what was going on & they told em they would put a block on it, & to go to the 3 credit reporting bureas & place a alert on my "account".

Ok......I thought that was all behind me now, wrong! I get a letter today in the mail saying I owe Verizon $151 for a phone bill. It had my old land line # from 2001. I have moved 2 times since then. The bill was paid, never had any calls or mail saying there was any other fees needing paid since.

The collection letter I got in the mail was from Convergent Outsourcing, INC. I did a search on them & there is all kinds of scam stuff about them!![:0]

I wonder if someone, some how, got some personal info some how & is trying to use it to get $. I shread everything that has any info for my entire family. So they didn't get it from my trash.

I called Convergent & they won't tell me anything because I told them I wasn't providing any personal info other than a zip code( they had my name, so zip wasn't revealing much).

I found out I have a judgment on my credit for a CCI never had. The judgment was awarded AFTER a court hearing in my old town in PA! Turns out the Wicked Itch had received a CC offer in the mail for me while I was over seas and SHE opened the account, maxed out the card and NEVER made one payment!! There is a long list and history of her stealing from me and destroying my credit and I'm finding out that there is NOTHING I can do about it since we were married [:(!][:(!]

Don't even get me started on the IRS problems she created for me!!

I even got a certified letter in the mail yesterday saying I am being sued for child support and spousal support!!!!! Words cannot express how mad I am right now!!

I recently had my corporate card hacked. The people spent about 2k on it before I received a bill. Card services took care of it quickly over the phone. All the purchases were from the LA area. Which is some what funny since I haven't lived there for fiv years. Some how the person managed to spend more than $40 twice at Jack in The Box. [:0]

Couple months ago card called cause they thought my card had been hacked. Seems I was spending a bunch up in Maine. These were not internet sales either. They took care of it and got me a new card right out. But it was USAA.

I had to put a new air conditioning system on this place end of December. Big hit on the credit card. Set that Discover Card in the desk drawer intending not to use it again until the bill is paid off.

A month ago new charges start appearing on that Discover. All kinds of stuff - Match.com, Groupon.Com, other things but those two were repeat charges over and over again.

Checked and sure enough card is right where I left it, not lost or stolen.

Discover closed the card, issued a new card and transferred the true charges to it, wiped out the rest.

Had a couple thing like that happen over the years. I've added a paper shredder and shred every receipt, every scrap of mail with useful info on it.

I checked my credit report & score on Experian. Report shows a request for credit on Chase & Capitol 1 card. It dropped my score 32 points!!![:0][:(!] I just did a check in Oct. and it dropped that much since then becuase of these pricks applying for credit.[:(!]

Capital one said it would be off there in 60 days. I need to call Chase & get them to remove it as well. I have not used any credit except my mortgage in 5yrs.
