We did pretty good at the farm today. 13 rabbits & saw 3 hen pheasants (we can't shoot hens).
We got them cleaned and everyone got to take some home. I shot my limit, but gave a couple to some of the other guys so they wouldn't go home empty handed. There were 6 of us all together.
I was thinking of boiling them until the bones fall off. Then shread the meat and add cream of mushroom, cream of celery, some seasoning, and my favorite BBQ sause to make sandwhiches with.
Anyone have any other way to cook them other then flour and fry?

Stew em up! Boil off and cook with lots of onions, carrots, peppers & what you likes. Have fun.
And you need one more to make seven pairs of slippers unless you have a acquaintance with only one leg.
In the late 60's, that was my Sunday afternoon pasttime. A friend and I would start out right after lunch and stay out until evening choretime. Usually 6-8 was a decent day with maybe a quail or two extra. I carried a 20 gauge and the other guy had a 22 so we had most everything covered.
At this time, there aren't enough rabbits, quail, or pheasants to make the walk worthwhile. We need to get rid of a lot of varmints(including hawks and owls) that prey on birds plus coyotes and smaller nest raiders.
Boy that was a great day!
Thanks for sharing...
I try to keep the coyotes thinned out.[xx(]
I make brush piles out in the timber and around the buildings for the rabbits to hide in. We had some buildings knocked down and I had the concrete chunks piled in the pasture along the creek for cover.
We only hunt them once a year, this makes sure we leave seed for next year.
We had a heck of a time. Everyone giving each other chit and having a fun time.[:D][:o)]
