ADT

ADT....Nope: I walked in on the Burglar. The emotional trauma was devastating, the .44 magnum .240 gr JHP's passed thru him, taking out our Grandfather clock. It had been in the family for years. I was heart broken. After they removed the dispatched gremlin, I started thinking maybe I should switch to a less penetrating round like Mag-safe or Glaser safety slugs. Oh well, my son and daughter commented on the great shot, he never took another step. I was the last house he'll his visit. Maybe ADT could send for clean-up.

I didn't see it. I just hate that ADT commercial, like the perp is going to see a lady and little girl and take off running.
He would as he heard the safety clicking off!

I dont think I would be bragging if I just killed someone. I think I would be devastated and keep it to my self.[;)] Hope this is a bad joke

I would be willing to bet that people that have ADT worry less about things when they leave the house. I can say for a fact having dogs just makes me worry about my belongings AND my dogs when I hear about trouble in my neighborhood.

I have every door and window within reach wired and have ADT. Not sure how it cannot be good if it's activated? Not sure what type of system you have but motion sensors are worthless IMO.

Motion sensors were a HUGE plus at the store....I don't know about the usefulness of them being in a house, but if the alarm went off at the store you could tell EXACTLY what was going on by the types of triggers it had. "Vibration and motion meant bad news".....but just a motion sensor was a bug (I hate bugs!)

Motion and thermal sensor operated, self-tracking M2 BMG stations with minimum of 500 rounds per weapon and overlapping fields of fire completely surrounding the property being protected. Shut the system off by remote from about 1/2 mile outside the sensors' maximum arming range, and turn it back on when you go to bed.

M134 miniguns can replace the M2's in a pinch.

It is a factious event, my version of the ADT commercial. I do believe in Alarm systems. I don't believe in a burglar seeing a young lady and child as he's caught in the act, turning and running and all is well, except for the broken items in the burglary. (as in their commercial)
I do believe in carrying in case you did somehow encounter an event and needed protection.

here adt would be no good. there is usually only one maybe two state police, and one sherrif deputy on duty at a time. the s.p. cover 2 counties and the deputy covers the whole county.
if some one broke in it could 15 -30 minutes before the law showed up
it may be ok in the city, but out in the country forget it.
best bet is game cameras and dogs
remember several years ago when i posted about my mom getting assulted, the deputy never showed till about 22 hours later

Like some people, I live in the country, 20 miles from town. If I had an event. It would be awhile before any one came to take the report of my demise, or of the perp (hopefully). Good and bad. It is also a long ways for someone to come out and do a break in and get back to town with their goods. Good thing also, is most of my trouble is the four legged kind. Could/can it happen, ya, always a possiblity. Most of the time, the ones you hear about are the snowbirds that come back months later to find their homes broken into.

Trouble with ADT and all those other systems that "alert" the local gendarmerie is that the company has NO CONTROL over how long the report-writers take to arrive.
That's why the 220V bars along the window sills, and grounded frames; I wanna see who was stupid enough to try it.

    Clarification on my previous comments:

Did not mean motion sensors are worthless overall. I can see many situations where they are beneficial. In my case I did not want/need them as my points of entry are wired. My window and doors move 1/4" the system goes off. I felt if I only had a motion system in the house, that only tells me when someone is already inside. Not to mention kids, dog etc walking around at night.

Regardless of the system, that's not why I have one. I don't count on the police for help if the alarm goes off. I do live in the country. If the alarm goes off when I'm home, it does one of two things.

    1. Scares off potential intruder.

    2. Gives me ample warning to take my spot locked an loaded.

If I'm not home, hopefully #1 would still be the case, I would think so as it's loud as hell.

i have adt at the bingo hall, no problems---except one time a new employee hit the little flame on the panel, thinking it was the Tstat. 110 bingo players barely looked up when the fire trucks hit the parking lot.[:D]

there has been great strides in advancement of motion detectors, pets in mind, hight, heat, more infrared than motion, i have motion detectors, at night i turn it on, button next to it is motion off, its what ever your comfortable with

Years of putting up with ADT at work (nation wide commercial account) I concluded that if they could treat a 1,000 unit account this poorly a homeowner would have no hope of service. I don't know about the competition, but ADT sucks.
