OK, I confess to ignorance on the subject, but

The ATF has or plans to ban a specific type of 5.56 ammo because there are AR15 pistols and this is considered quasi "AP" right? So does that mean the bullets can no longer be sold to reloaders or is only loaded ammo affected? Could the manufacturers make some minute change to the design of the bullet (like instead of green tip it comes in baby blue) and market it under a new name or numerical designation?
Of course this is all utterly ridiculous. I have seen AR pistols and they can hardly be classified as concealable. We need to rein in the ATF. And get a new president and AG while we're at it.

The green tip SS109 ammo, I believe is only loaded by Lake City/ Federal. I doubt the ATF will try to ban the bullets, so they might be available thru Federal.
Your right, AR pistols are not very concealable but the knuckleheads at ATF don't care. What's stupid is any .223 / 5.56 ammo will penetrate police body armor, so the AP characteristics of green tip ammo is a non-issue.
But as I have said before, I don't think the ban will actually stick.
The AP round itself, is perfectly ok. As long as its a "rifle" round.
The FNse7en AP round isn't ok. Its exclusive to a pistol platform. So they created a non AP round for folk to shoot.
But the 5.56 AP round isn't ok to fire from a pistol, unless it is a single shot pistol. Then its ok.
The problem comes in with these AR semi auto pistols. Which if I were going to choose a weapon (offensive or defensive) would place just above a brick tied to a 3' length of rope. And in some circumstances the brick and rope would place higher.
I personally don't consider the green tip to be particularly frightening. But I'm not easily scared. There is so much steel core 5.56 AP out in the population and green tip in cans that any attempt to eliminate from reality becomes moot.
I believe it to be an over reach. Its an attempt to protect law enforcement from weaponry in the hands of the average citizen. Its noble to protect from "cop killer" bullets being fired from easily concealable firearms... I guess. Worst case, its an attempt to remove ammunition from the hands of the people.
But body armor, even the ceramic plate stuff, isn't designed to protect from multiple, repeated hits. AP or not, its a bad day for anyone... And once you get into most of the 30 calibre rounds, AP or not, its a very bad experience if body armor is your only cover.
The ATF is the bloodiest screw-up in the Federal stable of law enforcement agencies. No other agency has such a parade of bad shootings, getting their own people, other law enforcement agency people and citizens killed out of pure arrogant stupidity. They've been that since their earliest days, such as the shooting of Ken Ballew in 1971.
The last three Republican Presidents all failed to control the ATF to any meaningful degree. I see no reason to hope another will do any better.
Not that we shouldn't try of course.
After all it is a pistol that shoots a rifle round is it not?
Or is just the armor piercing "AP" stuff?
Hope I didn't give them any ideas.
Will the Iver Johnson Enforcer bring a ban on the 30 Cal M1 Carbine ammo?

There is no .30 Carbine armor piercing ammunition or any .30 Carbine ammunition where the jacket or "penetrator core" comprises more than 25% of the total bullet weight.
Short answer on the Enforcer banning .30 Carbine ammo...No.
In my experience , it is only worth plinking. Not serious shooting. There are better bullets for that.
Sir, I know some Marines who use reloaded SS109-tipped ammo to win 300-500 yard competitions. It's a very accurate bullet in my experience.
