Glock 80% Lowers

I see the 80% lowers on sale @ Midway for $49.99. I've never been a Glock fan...Don't own one but have respect for them & "building" one seems interesting, especially since it would technically be only "Glock-Like"...maybe I just have too much time on my hands.

I know these have been discussed somewhat here in the past, but has anyone here actually built one? How did it go? Any pointers? drawbacks? Seems the parts pretty-much add up near just buying one, but I like to tinker. Comments please [:)]

Oh, and what can a surviving spouse legally do with the thing once the owner kicks off?

Goodness they are fun to build! Just my opinion but you will spend more than on a typical gen 3 Glock 17.

I did 2 one for me & my brother did the other. We did them together when he came back this last time from Afghanistan.

I did cerakote a few things, but it takes patience and lots of "fine tune" sanding.

Mine shoots good, drops mags just fine and is as accurate as I can be.
My brothers has had problems feeding and the occasional mag dropping out when shooting- but I believe he's worked out the issues. I think he went to a Vickkers mag release instead of the midway one, but my midway parts have been fine.

I spent the money on a Glock sight installation tool(from GB)- and it paid for itself by doing both of our rear sights.

I bought the midway lower parts kit, midway slide parts kit, a Swenson slide from Midway, and a used Glock barrel off of GB. I also bought XS Big Dot sights on which also came from GB.

I'm on my way to midway right now![:D]

thanks for the info. Your pistol looks great. For $49.99, I couldn't resist so I ordered one. I haven't ordered the other parts yet, as I figure they'll be available, but the lower price made it a "must have."
